How do you pronounce Castiel?

I have never watched Supernatural, but according to old nameberry posts that show is what most people associate the name [name_m]Castiel[/name_m] with. I just saw the meaning “my cover is God” and really loved that, and think the st in it would sound nice with our surname. I am thinking about it more as a middle, but I think the way I am saying it is different than how most pronounce it.

I initially read it as Cast-ee-ill? But now I think most people pronounce it Cast-ee-ell?

We live in the south central region of the United States if that makes a difference.

Yeah tbh, I’m not even a fan of the show and it’s the first thing I think of.

I’d pronounce it Cast-ee-ell

Supernatural is my only association with [name_m]Castiel[/name_m], though I’ve never actually seen the show. The fans are just very passionate (and vocal), I suppose! I’d pronounce it cas-tee-EL.

I know of it from Supernatural (though I’ve never watched the show); I’ve never heard it pronounced but my guess would be CAST-ee-ell

I’m a huge supernatural fan so I would pronounce it Cast-ee-Elle or sometimes if I’m being lazy I pronounce it Casti-Elle

[name_m]Castiel[/name_m] is such a beautiful name, but very associated with Supernatural - it has a very large, passionate fanbase :sweat_smile:

I’ve not watched the show, but a friend was obsessed with it for a while and so I’d heard him using the show pronunciation.

I thought it was like Cast-eel but I may be thinking of the beer Kasteel. Not familiar with supernatural.

I say it as Cas-tee-ELL (because of Supernatural, he’s one of my favourite characters :sweat_smile:), however I did originally think it was CAS-tee-uhl (like Gabriel).

I’ve never seen Supernatural for reference, and I pronounce it cass-teal, like the colour teal.

I pronounce it as Cast-ee-ell. Which is how the supernatural character pronounces it I believe. [name_m]Cassiel[/name_m], I pronounce it as Cass-ee-ell so.

I say [name_u]Cass[/name_u]- tele with a short a in the first syllable and a [name_m]Long[/name_m] e in the second syllable.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the show and I pronounce it like they do, cast-ee-elle.
