[name_f]Do[/name_f] YOU pronounce it with an “are” or an “air”?
A lot of people on here pronounce it like ‘air’ but I personally pronounce it like ‘are’
I say it like “air.”
Cluh-R-a
Clair-ah
“[name_f]Air[/name_f]”
I would say [name_f]Claire[/name_f]-ah. I’m from Kansas for reference. It’s a beautiful name either way.
I switch back and forth. Before getting on NB though, I had only ever heard clair-uh (I’m in the US)
With “are”, clar-ah.
I pronounce it Clah-ra
Americans pronounce everything with ay/air sound, it’s jarring. There’s ah!
@Sorceress we say pasta like “PAH-sta,” so we do have some long As
‘Are’. I’m Australian.
Are - kiwi
Where I live, I’ve only heard “are”. I knew a girl with this name at school, and that’s how she pronounced it.
We pronounce other -ara names with the “are” sound too e.g. [name_f]Tara[/name_f], [name_f]Cara[/name_f], [name_f]Sara[/name_f], [name_f]Lara[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f], [name_f]Farrah[/name_f]…
Are, from [name_f]Ireland[/name_f].
UK also pronounce it like this
“Are” - from UK
Are
“Are” - from the UK, everyone says it like that here (as far as I know)
Rhymes with [name_f]Cara[/name_f]
Are here too! (UK)
Like are. I prefer the air pronunciation though.
