[name_f]Em[/name_f]-uh-leen because I knew an [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] in college who pronounced her name that way (only one I’ve ever met) :slight_smile: But I think she frequently got the [name_f]Em[/name_f]-uh-line pronunciation and found that a bit annoying.

The only [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] I have ever “known” is [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_m]Harris[/name_m] in [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables. In the movie it was pronounced [name_f]Emma[/name_f]-line (as pps have posted above) so that is how I would pronounce it.

You know how with names like [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f] and [name_m]Kaden[/name_m] there are sooo many different spelling variations that you don’t even know which one is correct when meeting someone? That’s how I feel about the pronunciation of [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. I’d 100% have to ask how it’s pronounced, because none of the pronunciations stand out to me as the “default” one but none of them sound “wrong” either.
