I automatically default to eh-vah-LEEN, but I’ve also heard EEV-lin, EH-vah-lin, and EH-vah-line. There ended up being more pronunciations than I realized, so now I’m curious…
How would you personally say this name?

How would you personally say this name?
I say eev-uh-leen
EV-uh-leen
And just with the first two responses, I am now up to 6 different pronunciations. Shew. lol I feel like this name is so lovely, but could very easily lead to corrections all the time with so many ways to say it.
ev-uh-LEEN
Ev as in [name_u]Everett[/name_u], not [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
I pronounce it Ev-uh-line, Ev like in [name_u]Ever[/name_u].
Ev-uh-line, Ev like [name_u]Ever[/name_u] and [name_f]Line[/name_f] rhymes with mine
This is how I say it, too.
I would say Ev-uh-LEEN.
My instinct would be to pronounce it EH-vah-line, but if I ever encountered it in person I would pronounce it eh-vah-LEEN bc I assume that’s how most people pronounce it. I would never pronounce it EH-vah-lin since that’s the [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] spelling
I wouldn’t pronounce it the same as [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], either, but it was one of the options given on a pronunciation website. Supposedly, it is an American way to pronounce it, although I am American and [name_f]Eveline[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] are two separate names to me.
My first instinct (and my preference) is EV-uh-leen or EH-vuh-leen (those sound the same to me, but not sure which way to break it up syllable-wise). I also wouldn’t be surprised by EV-uh-line/EH-vuh-line.
I always struggle with -ine endings names for this reason! Usually I assume names with -ine endings would be pronounced rhyming with the word ‘pine’, so my first attempt would be EV-UH-LINE, closely followed by EV-UH-LEEN
EV-UH-LIN wouldn’t cross my mind, and I don’t think EEV-LINE or EEV-LEEN would be much of an issue either. Although, I did know an [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] that was pronounced EEV-LIN so you never know!
Like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].
EV-uh-leen
Either Ev-eh-leen or Ev-eh-line
Eh-vuh-line (as in the word)
I say ev-uh-leen (same as you). it’s lovely!
Ev-uh-leen.
Either EV-uh-leen or ev-uh-LEEN
