I would pronounce it Ev-uh-lyn
Neither, ev-ə-lin.
yeah, neither. ev-uh-lyn.
ev-uh-lyn for me as well.
Neither. EV-uh-lin
ev-uh-lin…never heard of it pronounced differently than that!
ev-uh-lyn for me too! I’ve never heard it otherwise!
Oh, yeah. I pronounce ever-lyn and ev-uh-lyn the same in my accent lol. That wasn’t clear, but ever-lyn IS ev-uh-lyn.
I say it EV-eh-lyn, which I think would be closest to [name_u]EVER[/name_u]-lyn with an English accent so that’s what I voted for.
I also say it as EV-eh-lyn or EV-uh-lyn.
I’ve met people with it both ways, but I would be inclined to pronounce it [name_f]Eve[/name_f]-lyn, because I usually hear it with nickname [name_f]Evie[/name_f], which is always Ee-vee. I also am used to the male Evelyn though, which is always Eve-lyn, so that might impact my opinion.
This is how I usually pronounce it, too. But I have heard it the “[name_f]Eve[/name_f]-lyn” way and it works. Especially for nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f].
Neither… Ev-uh-lyn.
Ev-uh-lynn
As a man’s name, it’s traditionally pronounced [name_f]EVE[/name_f]-lynn (like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] Waugh).
I personally prefer [name_f]EVE[/name_f]-lyn, but have heard people pronounce it both ways. From what I’ve seen, EV-uh-lyn seems to be more common in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u] and [name_f]EVE[/name_f]-lyn in the UK? (I’m Canadian though.)
Ev uh luhn
Ev uh lin. My great aunts name…also goes by [name_f]Evie[/name_f]…Ev-ee not E-vee
I’m from the UK and I’ve only ever know it pronounced ‘ev-uh-lyn’ (‘ever-lyn’).
All the Evelyns I know in the UK are ever-lyn (aka ev-uh-lyn). I’ve never come across eve-lyn until encountering foreign berries on this site.
