I say it more like [name_u]Fran[/name_u]-kuh
Well, that’s entirely not where I thought you were going with it! I’m in the middle of learning Portuguese, and the Portuguese word for “[name_f]France[/name_f]” is [name_u]Fran[/name_u]ça (an American would probably pronounce it like frahn-sah), so I was thinking along those lines. So I guess I’d say FRAHN-kah (also because it sort of looks like [name_f]Bianca[/name_f], so that makes more sense to me in light of that, too), but I can see it sounding like [name_f]Anne[/name_f] in the middle, too.
I’m half-Brazilian and I am aware of that pronunciation, but since the ç isn’t there, it is not an intuitive pronunciation for me.
I pronounce it Frahn-kuh (rhymes with [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]).
My first instinct was to say frahnk-ah. I could also see it being pronounced frank-ah, like in lingua franca.
