How do you pronounce Iolanthe and Ianthe?

[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering. I have never known how to pronounce this name.

i pronounce Ianthe as EYE-an-thee, but i think it’s also pronounced EE-an-thee. i say YO-lan-thee for Iolanthe, although I’m not entirely sure it’s correct/the only pronunciation.

Intuitively I’d say

Iolanthe:

Ianthe:

I’m not sure how correct these are but I thought I’d give my honest answer!

I personally like YAN-te or EEA-the and EEOL-ah-the

[name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] I say as ee-ANN-thee and [name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f] as yo-LANN-thee (or ee-yoh-LANN-thee). Both ‘th’ like in three or thick.

[name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] = ee-ahnth-ee

[name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f] = ee-oh-lahnth-ee

I’d say eye-YAN-thee and eye-oh-LAN-thee

eye-AN-thee and eye-oh-LAN-thee or yo-LAN-thee.

Eye-oh-lan-thee and Eye-an-thee (though I have heard it pn Ee-an-thee)

I pronounce them ee-oh-lahn-thee (Iolanthe) and ee-an-thee (Ianthe)

eye-ANN-thee and eye-oh-LAN-thee (thee doesn’t sound like the word thee, but with the ‘th’ of ‘thread’ rather than ‘this’)

I say EE-oh-lawn-thuh & EE-awn-thuh (th’s are voiceless, as pronounced in ‘three’)

eye-oh-LANN-thee and ee-ANN-thee

You think I’d use the same beginning for both but I guess not!

I say ee-oh-lan-thee and ee-an-thee, but I’m not sure if those are correct or not.

[name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f] - (eye•oh•lan•thee)

[name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] - (eye•an•thee)

Eye-an-thee and eye-oh-lan-thee

eye-ANN-thee and eye-uh-LAN-thee (hard TH as in thin)

eye-oh-LAN-thee and eye-AN-thee

I say [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] as eye-an-thay and [name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f] as yo-lan-thay

i say eye-ann-thee and eye-o-lann-thee

i know that these most likely aren’t correct, though!
