I’m not sure if this is “correct”, but I’ve always thought it was “jess-uh-meen”.

I’ve only known one [name]Jessamine[/name], and she pronounced it [name]Jess[/name]-uh-min, so that’s the way I’ve always thought it was pronounced.

I always pronounce names with that particular ending as een. Like [name]Adeline[/name], my mom pronounces it [name]Add[/name]-uh-line and I pronounce it [name]Add[/name]-uh-leen.

[name]Jess[/name]-uh-min. Never really considered the other pronunciations. I’ve always thought it was a beautiful name though.

Can I be honest? If you are asking us how to pronounce a name then nobody will know how to pronounce your babies name in school, etc and I know that would be frustrating and annoying for her. Though I [name]LOVE[/name] the name, [name]Jessa[/name]. I would just name her [name]Jessa[/name]!!! And you’ll could call her [name]Jess[/name]. :). Very cute!

It’s pronounced “jess-uh-min” unless you’re a French speaker and then it would be “meen”.

I say -meen, I dont know if [name]Ive[/name] ever heard it spoken aloud to know what the majority is on this one…interested to see poll results.

I pronounce it [name]Jess[/name]-a-min, and, in fact, I prefer the spelling [name]Jessamyn[/name] (see my signature) as it eliminates the other possibilities. Spelled either way, it’s a lovely name!

Not sure if it’s the correct way, but I’ve always said -meen. I think that ending is a lot softer and prettier!

Its only [name]Jess[/name] ah MINN…I would just name her [name]Jessa[/name]…I almost named my daughter this

I’m a gardener. I know it best (and hear it most often) in a gardening context, and there it’s usually jess-uh-min. It’s related to the jasmine, which I say jaz-min? Not jas-meen?

Maybe it’s different for names and now I feel really uncertain but I love it best with the short min sound. I prefer the archaic [name]Jessamine[/name] spelling to [name]Jessamyn[/name], though, just like I prefer [name]Katherine[/name] to [name]Kathryn[/name].

Thank you all so very much! I’m pleasantly surprised that the majority seems to pronounce it the way I do/prefer. This makes me feel much better about keeping this name on our short list!
