Someone I know just named her son [name]Mattias[/name]. It is not [name]Matthias[/name] - I would be able to pronounce that (Matth-AYE-ass). Would [name]Mattias[/name] just be [name]Matt[/name]-AYE-ass? Or something else?
It could be ma-TEE-as, too. It’s difficult to tell by the spelling alone.
If I saw that name on paper I would have no idea how to say it. I would immediately ask the parent or kid how to say their name. If I had to take a stab at it, I might try, Ma-[name]TAY[/name]-is, MA-tee-is, or Ma-TIE-is.
I have a boy in my group whose middle name is [name]Mattias[/name]. He says it ma-TIE-is.
I would say Ma-tee-iss, or around there. Is it the same as [name]Matias[/name]? I love the name pronounced like that.
I would pronounce it mah-tay-es.
mah-TEE-us
ma-TEE-iss
I would say Mu-tye-is
Ma-Tee-aas
I would pronounce [name]Mattias[/name] like Muh-TEE-us. [name]Mathias[/name] is like Muh-thigh-us
I would say [name]Mattias[/name] as ma-TIE-us
ma tie us is my prn.
This is my friend’s brother’s name, their father is [name]German[/name], so the family pronounce it the [name]German[/name] way which is mah-TEE-as.
That’s how I now pronounce it too.
Ma-tie-us for me.
