How do You Pronounce Raleigh?

I’ve always loved this name because I thought it was pronounced [name_u]Ray[/name_u]-lee. Not like [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_f]Carolina[/name_f]'s capital Rah-lee…? How do you pronounce it? And what are some good variations for [name_u]Raleigh[/name_u] to sound like [name_u]Ray[/name_u]-lee?

I’d say “RAH-lee”, sorry!

I honestly think any of your alternative spellings make your preferred pronunciation clear, but I went for Raeley as it’s the most aesthetically pleasing to me.

I’d say [name_u]Raleigh[/name_u] as [name_u]Ray[/name_u]-lee but [name_f]Raylee[/name_f] also looks appealing

Raleigh is definitely RAH-lee. Sorry!

But I think [name_f]Raylee[/name_f] or Raylie would work as an intuitive spelling to get the pronunciation you want.

Raleigh would definitely be RAH-lee. I immediately think of NC’s capital.

I think all of the alternate spellings work. I chose [name_f]Raeleigh[/name_f] because I assumed you liked the look of [name_u]Raleigh[/name_u], but wanted a spelling that made it clear it was [name_u]Ray[/name_u]-lee. [name_f]My[/name_f] second choice would have been [name_f]Raylee[/name_f] because it reminds me of [name_f]Kaylee[/name_f] and makes it seem more name-like.

It’s the city in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], why would it be pronounced differently?

I immediately think of the city. For the last pronunciation you want, I chose [name_f]Raylee[/name_f] because it’s the most phonetic.
