I pronounce it row-EE-na, and would probably just use [name_f]Ro[/name_f] or Row as a nickname.

I think the ro-WEN-uh pronunciation is fine. I find row-AY-na a bit difficult to say, but that’s probably just an accent thing.

I’ve never heard the “when” pronunciation, only row-EE-nuh.

[name_f]Winnie[/name_f] would be cute for [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] as well as Row or Roo.

I’ve only ever heard row-EE-nuh. I can understand ro-WEN-uh but not row-AY-nuh.

[name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_u]Romy[/name_u], [name_f]Ro[/name_f] [name_f]Ro[/name_f], Roo. I love this name.

Most peole would pronounce it with the “EE” sound which isn’t very pretty to me. I prefer the “WEN” pronunciation myself as I think it sounds softer and less prissy. I’ve never heard the “AY” pronounciation.

Holy crap, I had just been assuming it was [name_m]Rowe[/name_m]-ENN-uh all this time. I hate those other options. Good thing this recently came off my list!

Row-enn-a for me! I like [name_m]Rowe[/name_m]/[name_f]Ro[/name_f], [name_u]Winn[/name_u] or [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], [name_f]Enna[/name_f].

I was watching a scene from [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] ([name_m]Harry[/name_m] talking to [name_f]Helena[/name_f] Ravenclaw) and could swear he & [name_f]Luna[/name_f] pronounce it row-ay-na, but my volume can’t go very high so I might be wrong. On the other hand, in Mr. [name_u]Holland[/name_u]'s Opus it’s prn. row-EE-na.

I say ro-WEE-nah, but I’d use the nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] regardless. Mainly because I adore [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], and I’d use any excuse to use it. I think [name_f]Rina[/name_f] or [name_f]Ro[/name_f]/[name_u]Rory[/name_u] could be cute, too.

I always thought it was ro-WEN-a or like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] with an -a at the end but then after researching I think the real pronunciation is ro-WEE-na. But I really don’t like that pronunciation at all so I took it off my list.

I really like [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]! I pronounce it Row-EE-nah and would likely just use [name_f]Ro[/name_f] as a nickname.

ro-WEN-uh would he the intuitive pronunciation for me but as this is my moms friends name I voted
row-EE-na because that is how she pronounces it.

There are so many of these “how do you pronounce” threads for names where the pronunciation is very clear. [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is pronounced Row-EE-nah. Everywhere in the world.

The only pronunciation I’ve ever heard is ROW-en-uh.

[name_f]Ro[/name_f]-WEN-uh for me. A gorgeous name, and I certainly wouldn’t mind the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] reference!

I’ve only ever heard Row-EE-nuh.

Rowenna would be spelled like that (with a double-n), I would think.
