According to the Pronunciation key here on nameberry [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] is pronounced [name_m]Thay[/name_m] - lee - ah but I personally have always pronounced it as Thal -ya.
I’ve heard both thal-yah and tal-ya.
I pronounce it tar-lee-ah/tah-lee-ah (subconsciously switch between the two), but I’ve never known anyone called this so it’s just a guess. The tal-ya pronunciation is off and hard to do in my accent.
It’s a family name for me and we always pronounced it [name_m]Thay[/name_m]-lee-ah. I think the [name_m]French[/name_m] (or maybe Spanish?) pronunciation is Tall-ee-ah (not the TH sound).
I’d pronounce it tal-ee-uh.
[name_u]Tal[/name_u]-ee-uh here too!
[name_m]TAH[/name_m]-lee-uh for sure. I once got in an argument about how to pronounce the [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] character [name_f]Thalia[/name_f]- he said THAH-lee-uh; I said [name_m]TAH[/name_m]-lee-uh. I agree with a PP that [name_m]TAHL[/name_m]-yuh is hard to say in my accent. Same goes for uh-MEEL-yah and [name_f]BEE[/name_f]-tris instead of uh-MEE-lee-uh and [name_f]BEE[/name_f]-uh-tris.
[name_m]Tahl[/name_m]-ee-uh or tahl-yuh
Thal-yuh…
I would say [name_m]Tahl[/name_m]-ya because of the Th-. I knew a [name_f]Talia[/name_f] and it was pronounced [name_u]Tal[/name_u]-ya.
I say Thaw-lee-uh… Something of that sort
I pronounce it tal-ya with the ‘h’ being silent.
I say [name_m]THAY[/name_m]-lee-ə, and I love it (said like that). Tbh I think I only started saying it like that because I saw a pronunciation guide that said it was [name_m]Thay[/name_m]-lee-ə and I might have just got used to it.
I’ve only ever heard it pronounced as [name_m]TAH[/name_m]-lee-uh (with a silent h).
[name_m]Thay[/name_m]-lee-ah or tha-leeuh
The only way I’ve ever heard it pronounced is Tall-yuh, the “h” being silent.
I know a [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] (my piano teacher); she pronounces it “Th-a-l-eey-uh” ([name_m]Long[/name_m] a.) I’ve also heard it be another spelling for [name_f]Talia[/name_f] (Tall-yee-uh), but that’s a little confusing for me with the ‘h.’
I pronounce it [name_m]Thay[/name_m]-lee-ah. I think [name_m]Tah[/name_m]-lee-uh/tahl-ya has the h in a different spot: [name_f]Tahlia[/name_f].
I know someone with the name and she pronounces it “[name_m]TAH[/name_m]-lee-ah” with the strongest emphasis on the first syllable.
I’ve heard it pronounced both ways, but I personally prefer tah/tar-lee-ah over thay-lee-ah.
