The name is [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]. Is it pronounced like [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] or dor-thee-a?
I was taught to say it something like doro-taya. I most often hear dor-thee-a though.
Dor-thee-a.
I’ve only ever heard it pronounced like [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] with an a at the end, and putting stress on the third syllable. That pronunciation makes sense considering the original version of the name in Greek was pronounced do-ro-theh-ah, so with four syllables.
Dor-thee-a
Dor-uh-thee-uh
I would say do-ruh-THEE-a, four syllables, a short o sound at the start like in dot.
I say it like door-thee-a.
I say it like [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]; [name_f]Do[/name_f]-ruh-THEE-uh ([name_f]Do[/name_f] rhyming with doll).
Doh-ro-thee-ur (kind of like the end of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]?)
I would pronounce it Dor-oth-ee=a with a stress on the third syllable - kind of with the same rhythm you’d say [name_f]Theodora[/name_f].
All the people I’ve met called [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] (3 people) pronounced it [name_f]Do[/name_f]-ruh-TEE-a
