I notice as I share my current favored baby name of [name_f]Violet[/name_f], some people say the o more pronounced than others… I personally say a soft o like in [name_f]Olive[/name_f]… not [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].
What do you say?
I notice as I share my current favored baby name of [name_f]Violet[/name_f], some people say the o more pronounced than others… I personally say a soft o like in [name_f]Olive[/name_f]… not [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].
What do you say?
I say it like “v-eye-let” but some people do pronounce it “vee-oh-let” which is usually a nn for [name_f]Violetta[/name_f].
Vy-oh-let. Similar to the O in [name_f]Olive[/name_f] I guess? Then again, I say the O in [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] the same way. [name_m]Long[/name_m] o sound, but quick and short.
Vie-let. But when you say that you can still hear a slight O. I’d say it’s 97 percent almost the same and definitely interchangeable.
I pronounce it veye-let.
Vy-let, with the ‘o’ being silent.
VYE-uh-lut. It’s not like the O in [name_f]Olive[/name_f] at all for me. It’d say it’s more like the beginning of viaduct
It basically ends up as two syllables when I say it. VYE-let.
Either Vye let or Vye uh let.
Thank you, I prefer the name without the big O sound like in [name_f]Viola[/name_f].
I have only heard it pronounced vie-ə-lət.
I say it [name_f]Vi[/name_f]-lut (the first syllable as in [name_m]Hi[/name_m] with a V) or sometimes [name_f]Vi[/name_f]'a-lut.
I pronounce Vy-let, sometimes Vy-a-let but I don’t really think there’s a correct way, just personal preference.
vie-uh-let, but the faster I say it, the more the o disappears. Most of the time it’s most like vieuh-let, where it’s like a diphthong. Viola that name is often pronounced the same as Violet with and -a instead of -et.
2-syllables: VIE-let
I’m another two-syllable pronouncer most of the time with vye-let. If I do say the “o”, I say it as “uh”.
Vye’uh-lit… the Vye’uh is very quick and almost undetectable but 3 syllables.
just because they are spelled very closely, for reference I pronounce “violent” vye-lint, 2 syllables.
I am from Western NY and have an “accent” to match though.
VYE-uh-let, although I imagine that if I knew a [name_f]Violet[/name_f], I would frequently just say VYE-let.
I don’t pronounce the O at all. v-eye-let.
I’m another one that doesn’t pronounce the ‘o’. I use the VIE - let pronunciation.
