[name_f]Zee[/name_f]-ta for [name_f]Zeta[/name_f] (as in [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Zeta[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m]) and [name_f]Zetta[/name_f], I pronounce as Zett-ta (as is zed the letter).

I would say ZAY-duh ([name_f]Zeta[/name_f]) and [name_m]ZED[/name_m]-uh ([name_f]Zetta[/name_f])

I’d automatically say ‘[name_f]ZEE[/name_f]-ta’ as la [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Zeta[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] but in classical Greek I think it’s more like ‘ZAY-ta’.

[name_f]Zetta[/name_f] I’d pronounce ‘ZET-a’ (zet to rhyme with jet and a short a like cat).

I tend to pronounce [name_f]Zeta[/name_f] more as ZAY-tuh, though the [name_f]ZEE[/name_f]-ta pronunciation may be the right one for all I know. [name_f]Zetta[/name_f] is clearer to me - ZEH-tuh, rhyming with [name_f]Jetta[/name_f] and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] and feta.

Thanks for all the replies! I was just wondering how useable it would be as a nickname, with the third pronunciation of ZEH-tuh. But supposedly, the correct pronunciation is ZAY-tuh, so I’m still rather apprehensive : )

I interchange ZAY-tuh and [name_f]ZEE[/name_f]-tuh for [name_f]Zeta[/name_f]. I’d say Zeh-tuh, rhyming with [name_f]Etta[/name_f] or [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], for [name_f]Zetta[/name_f].

I have a very close friend named [name_f]Zeta[/name_f]! She pronounces it ZAY-tuh.
