How do you say Apolline?

Does anyone know the correct pronunciation of [name_f]Apolline[/name_f]? It seems like a great name and I love the [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] tie, but I just have no idea how to say it. Apol-line? Apo-leen? Something else?

Also, which do you prefer, [name_u]Abilene[/name_u] or [name_f]Apolline[/name_f]? [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] to me sounds more chic, sophisticated, and international, while [name_u]Abilene[/name_u] is more friendly and down to earth, not to mention distinctly American.

Thanks,
~LL~

  1. Sort of like apple-lean. So app-ole-een.

  2. I prefer [name_u]Abilene[/name_u]. [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] reminds me of apples

It’s [name_m]French[/name_m] so I would pronounce it “ah-poe-LEEN”. I like both names but I think Apolline is quite sophisticated compared to the more down-to-earth Abilene.

Me too, although in an English-speaking place I’d probably become less precise and say it more like ap-uh-LEEN.

I totally agree with your assessment of [name_u]Abilene[/name_u] vs. [name_f]Apolline[/name_f]. I would add that I like the link to the Greek god [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] in [name_f]Apolline[/name_f].

This.

I absolutely love [name_f]Apolline[/name_f], but I don’t think I’m brave enough to use it.
