I’m curious as to how everyone says [name]Aurelia[/name]? I have come across a few pronunciations, so I want to see what majority of people would say. Also, what are your opinions on the name? Thanks!
I used to say or-ell-yuh, but ever since joining this website I’ve found myself saying or-eel-yuh for some reason.
I’m really horrible at writing out phonetic pronunciations, but I say it kind of like or-el-ee-ah.
I think it’s a really pretty name, but not my style. I could see it on other people’s kids, but not my own.
I say “oh real ee yah” here are a bunch of different prn you might like to listen to Pronunciations for aurelia (from Via Aurelia to Valle Aurelia)
Edited to say I also such at phonetic prn but I think mine is actually closer to the “or” sound everyone else is saying, I just never thought about using “o”
I generally say it or-ale-ee-ah. I like it. It is different but not strange, classic but not overused.
I speak french and say it oh-rail-ia… I’m bad at explaining it haha but it sounds nice in French and actually translates well into English.
I say [name]Ah[/name]-rell-ee-uh.
I pronounce it much like thetxbelle does: or-AY-lee-uh.
I love [name]Aurelia[/name]! I am considering either it or the French [name]Aurelie[/name] for a spot on my list right now, actually.
As for pronunciation, lol, it varies on the day. Sometimes I say awr-[name]ELL[/name]-yah, sometimes it’s oh-[name]RAY[/name]-lee-ah, and sometimes it’s or-EEL-yah. I prefer the latter, but I do say all three on occasion! Lately I’ve been saying oh-[name]RAY[/name]-lyah the most, though, I think.
The Italian way: ow-ray-lya.
Ore-ell-ee-uh
4 syllables
I think it’s pretty pronounce like that but i don’t know how it’s actually supposed to be pronounced.
Or - reel - ya, but my ‘or’ is slightly ‘awr’ like. ‘au’ makes a special sound for me that i just can’t quite explain.
[name]Aura[/name]-lee-a
Or-ale-yah
I have a friend who named her daughter this. They call her [name]Ari[/name] for short.
Areuhleeuh. Like hannah-banana.
I have loved this name since I heard it in the movie “[name]Love[/name], Actually.” I say or-ALE-ya.
I switch between the pronunciations of or-real-ya and or-rail-ya. Pretty name!
The “Or-ale-yah” pronunciation is what I prefer, personally.
or-ail-yah
I see a LOT of people pronouncing the R in the first syllable but it’s actually in the second syllable. In French Au and Eau both sound like the letter O. Think of the name [name]Ophelia[/name], it’s similar but the second syllable sounds like rail. There is also no “ya” at the end either. I know some people may prefer it buts its incorrect and changes a beautiful name. Thus oh-ray-lee-uh. It’s not Orrelea
