How do ypu pronounce Helena?

Id always pronounced it HELL-en-uh then i remembered a girl i knew when I was little who prounounced her name huh-LAY-nuh so i was curious

Okay, so, if I met a [name_f]Helena[/name_f], I’d assume ‘Hell-en-uh’ as that’s how most of the ones I’ve met have pronounced it - however, in my head, I say ‘huh-lay-nuh’, because I like it best :person_facepalming: I’ve also met a huh-lee-nuh

I have heard all three main pronunciations (HEH-len-uh, he-LAY-nuh, he-LEE-nuh) used IRL but the first is by far my favourite and is the pronunciation we use for our daughter’s middle name.

heh-LAY-na is my favorite pronunciation (and I think the only one ive known pronounced it that way) so that’s how I pronounce it!

I’ve met multiple Helenas, with various pronunciations: HEL-eh-na, hel-EE-na, and hel-AY-na.

[name_f]My[/name_f] personal fave is the first one, as it sounds very classic & elegant to me.

I switch between HELL-eh-na and hell-EH-na

I’d instinctively pronounce Heh-lay-na but I’d fully expect to be corrected to Helen-a 50/50. It’s not difficult to adjust to either pronunciation, I think they’re both pretty evenly used.
