How Does Rosamund Fit?

Now that I have two out of our planned three children (check namecard), I find that many of our old top girl names don’t quite fit as a sibset. But other favorite names have shot up my list. I am currently IN LOVE with [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], but I’m eager to hear how others think it fits.

[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] combos in the past have been:

[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]

[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]

Current musings:
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_m]Callixto[/name_m] [name_f]Helen[/name_f] (not only do I have a couple honor names among the set, but the whole flow would signal [name_u]Roche[/name_u], an important surname on my maternal line)
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] Geneviève
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] [name_f]Elin[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Apolline[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Cordula[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Ersa[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]

What vibes do you get from [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]? Is she too continental or is she a perfect bridge between my sons’ names? Would [name_f]Rosmerta[/name_f] be a better fit? As always, your combo contributions are more than welcome!

Thanks, Berries!

[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] sounds brilliant with your boys’ beautiful names! It has the same magic, velvety feeling as your other kiddos. [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] C [name_f]Helen[/name_f] is lovely, but I don’t love [name_m]Callixto[/name_m]. Maybe [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Coralia[/name_f], [name_f]Cassia[/name_f], or [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] would suit?

I think [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] would be beautiful with your boys’ names! I love the classic grace and simplicity of [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Helen[/name_f].

I also like the idea of [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] C [name_f]Helen[/name_f], but agree with @jonquils on [name_m]Callixto[/name_m]. I think with your two o-ending boy names, it sounds a little off for a girl mn. (Though that may be just my opinion.) You have [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] on your list, and that would fit beautifully. [name_f]Cordula[/name_f] and [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], too. But, in the end, if you love [name_m]Callixto[/name_m], then it’s probably the right choice for you.

I am loving this list as I’ve had [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]/[name_f]Isidora[/name_f], Breatrix, and [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] all in various combinations with [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] before ([name_f]Isidora[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] respectively) I’m just feeling everything that’s going on here.

I adore [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] too! I love the balance between that uber-feminine “[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]” beginning and the strength of the “mund” ending. I think it would fit beautifully with your boys.

These middle names jumped out at me from your past combos:

[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Helen[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_u]Honor[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_u]Jule[/name_u]

I used to have [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] on my own list, which I think would work equally well reversed: [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f].

From your current musings, I love these:

[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_m]Callixto[/name_m] [name_f]Helen[/name_f] – I really like every name in this combo (yes, even [name_m]Callixto[/name_m]!) and the various meanings behind the names are lovely. It’s a very whimsical combo.

[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] [name_f]Elin[/name_f] – This sounds so strong and decisive, I love it!

[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] – [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] are sweet and delicate, a nice balance for strong, sturdy [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] up front.

[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] – All three names strike me as underused classics, and I think they work wonderfully well together. The whole combo gives me a Shakespearean vibe.

But I think, for meaning and in combination with your sons’ magnificent names, the first combo (RCH) gets my vote! [name_f]Rosmerta[/name_f] fits fantastically too, but it sounds like you’re drawn to [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] more.

That is exactly what I’m seeking to further with our third name choice. Thank you!
I like all of your C suggestions, and also others like [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] that might work but we will see if they can win out over [name_m]Callixto[/name_m].

Also the vibe I want to continue!
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] is the first of my middle names and for me it was an honor name so I’ll consider the [name_f]Clara[/name_f] derivant options. I love my full name on me but it has never seemed a high priority for me to pass on that piece but your options are lovely, particularly [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f].

@brittanyanitarose, I love your style!!! [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] is heart-stopping. If only my partner were on board with [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] as a first name.
I absolutely love your [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f], [name_f]Scirocco[/name_f], and
[name_f]Hespera[/name_f] options. And I’ll immediately vet [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] to DH as he loves [name_f]Cressida[/name_f].

I love the ones you picked out for me and thank you so much for the thoughtful breakdown. I am likewise currently most drawn to my RCH combo, but time shall tell whether she stays fast. I actually think I love [name_f]Rosmerta[/name_f] almost equally as standalone name but worry it might be a lot less recognizable and my partner doesn’t like the clunk of the ‘mert’ syllable. I’ll have to think on it some more.

Thank you everyone!
