How important is it that sibling names "go together?"

I think seth and gordon work well together and seth and asher work well together. I wouldnt say I really love the flow of all 3 names.

I think siblings names should flow together, not necessarily match but have a similar style, feel or come from the same period or popularity.
[name_f]My[/name_f] family may be odd but we catagorise ourselves, find patterns and being a blended family with 8 children there were many to be found. It troubled my brother a bit that he was the only boy to start with a vowel instead of a consanent. We had to reassure him by explainibg that 3 of our brotgers names ended in the same letters as his name and both his and my name had the same number of letters

I want my children’s names to go together pretty well so sibsets are pretty important to me. I think sibsets aren’t just for other people or the parent to be but the children as well. Would you want to be the child who had the name that sticks out like a sore thumb? I wouldn’t want that for a child regardless of how important the name was to my parents. For example, I know a sibset of [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and they ended up with a sibling named [name_f]Jazlyn[/name_f]. Now that is trendy and will date so quickly, so this is why I personally find sibsets important. I would think [name_f]Jazlyn[/name_f] was unrelated to [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].

I want my future children to have names that go well together so one child doesn’t feel like the odd one out! I think [name_u]Seth[/name_u], [name_m]Asher[/name_m] & [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] are fine together, perhaps [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] stands out slightly but not so much it would be picked up on.

I prefer siblings to have a certain degree of “name cohesion”. People shouldn’t get their knickers in a twist with the term of “sibset”. We all know that each child is an individual not a set of dishes. I use the term for simplicity’s sake and I’m not going to feel guilty about it. Ok, rant over. All of your names are fine names. I like [name_m]Asher[/name_m] and [name_u]Seth[/name_u] for their Biblical ties so I think they would be awesome together. [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] is a Scottish surname with a bit of a “dated” feel (its heyday was in the first half of the twentieth century) so it does stick out for me. However, it’s not the end of the world so if you love them all, by all means use them.
