I love the names [name]Artemis[/name] and [name]Hermione[/name], but are they too much together? I’m not trying to make a theme of Greek mythology; I don’t consider myself more interested in Greek mythology than the average person.
If, for example, I had three girls, and used [name]Artemis[/name] and [name]Hermione[/name] (either as a first or middle name…as of now I like [name]Artemis[/name] for one kid’s fn and [name]Hermione[/name] for another kid’s mn), would that create an expectation of more mythology names? If the next kid’s first/middle name was [name]Scout[/name] or [name]Oswin[/name] or something else totally unrelated to mythology, would it throw everything off? And what about for boy names? My favorite boy name is [name]Milo[/name], so on the off chance that I one day used [name]Artemis[/name] and [name]Hermione[/name] as first names, is [name]Milo[/name] totally wrong with them?
And I like [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Jess[/name]/[name]Jesse[/name], but I also like names like [name]Atticus[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Hamish[/name] and [name]Edmund[/name], do those fit together?
So, out of these names that I like…would they make an acceptable sib set? Would people be horrified?
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Hermione[/name]
[name]Artemis[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Scout[/name] [name]Oswin[/name]
[name]Milo[/name] [name]Hamish[/name]
[name]Jesse[/name] [name]Atticus[/name]
Any opinions and suggestions are welcome
I think those names make a really acceptable sibset. Almost all the names you love has some kind of literary significance, even if it isn’t of greek mythology. I think [name]Artemis[/name], [name]Hermione[/name], and [name]Milo[/name] make a perfect sibset, actually - [name]Milo[/name] does have Greek roots, and my dog [name]Milo[/name] is named for the [name]Venus[/name] De [name]Milo[/name] statue, so it ties in. [name]Even[/name] if it didn’t though…I don’t think that matters.
[name]Hermione[/name] to me is way more [name]Shakespeare[/name] than Greek mythology to begin with. So I would say as long as you pick a name that’s classic, and has a nice history or literature association, you can get creative with the sibset.
Something like [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Artemis[/name], and [name]Jane[/name] or [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Artemis[/name], and [name]MacKenzie[/name] would be weird. I think [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Artemis[/name], and [name]Scout[/name] or even [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Artemis[/name], and [name]Scout[/name] works fine. And I don’t see an issue with any boys names you like.
Well, I think [name]Artemis[/name] and [name]Hermione[/name] are a great sibset, though I admit that if I met a guy named [name]Jesse[/name] and he told me his sister’s name was [name]Artemis[/name] I might be a bit taken aback. Same with if I met an [name]Eliza[/name] and she said her sister’s name was [name]Scout[/name]–I’d probably ask if that was a nickname.
I really love [name]Artemis[/name] and [name]Mio[/name] and I think [name]Atticus[/name] is a great name too.
