[name]How[/name] long was your name list when you first started getting serious about narrowing it down? When the love of names finally turned into actually naming a child…
Did you have a relatively short list to begin with, or a very very long list that felt like you would never get down to just one name?
My name list was up to 20 or 30 names at one point. I kept narrowing it down to about 12 and then rearranging and adding and deleting until I just would not allow myself to look at it for a few months. Finally, when I went into the hospital, of course I forgot the name list. When she was born I remembered three names I liked (I don’t even think two of them were on my last official list) and my husband picked the final name. It was actually kind of fun, because since I didn’t have the list to look at, I knew I really did like all three names.
I had 6 or 7 names that I seriously considered for each gender for my son. I had 3 contenders for boys ([name]Caleb[/name], [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name]) and 2 for girls ([name]Leila[/name] and [name]Rhiannon[/name]). When we found out he was a boy, we had decided [name]Gabriel[/name] - then a month or so went by and we changed it to [name]Caleb[/name] and thats what he stayed.
For my second one, I had one and only and that was [name]Felicity[/name]. She wasn’t on my list for the first once because her last name would have been [name]Fitzpatrick[/name]. But with her fathers last name, it worked perfectly. For a boy, I basically only liked [name]Morgan[/name], and he agreed to both of them.
