How many Charlottes do you know? Do most go by Charlotte, Lottie or another nickname?

I love the name [name]Charlotte[/name], and my hubby loves it too as long as we call her [name]Lottie[/name] most of the time. Plus [name]Lottie[/name] is the name of a very dear family member, and [name]Charlotte[/name] seems like the perfect way to honor her. [name]One[/name] thing that holds me back though is the popularity of [name]Charlotte[/name]. :frowning: I’m just currious how many you all know in real life. And does using [name]Lottie[/name] make it more unique, or are there also tons of [name]Lottie[/name]'s running around now?

Never met a little [name]Charlotte[/name].

I don’t know a [name]Charlotte[/name] either.

I know 2 Charlottes, both in their early twenties. They both go by [name]Char[/name] (prn “[name]Shar[/name]”)

I don’t know any Charlottes. I wouldn’t think all (or even most) are just [name]Lottie[/name]–I hear [name]Charlotte[/name] (with no nn), [name]Lottie[/name], [name]Charlie[/name], and [name]Lola[/name] (not to mention more obscure ones, like [name]Ari[/name], [name]Char[/name], Harlo, [name]Lotte[/name] (LAH-tuh; [name]German[/name] nn I think), etc. bantered around, all pretty much equally. So I don’t think she’d be in a sea of Lotties if she got the name.

[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Lottie[/name], btw–[name]Lola[/name] is my nn of choice, but I would be happy if one day my hypothetical [name]Charlotte[/name] came home and said, “Mommy, you can call me [name]Lottie[/name] now.”

I had a [name]Charlotte[/name] in my preschool class a few years ago. She’s probably 6 by now.

Other than that, I only know my Grandma [name]Charlotte[/name], who insists her name never allowed for nicknames. I told her all about, [name]Cher[/name], [name]Cheryl[/name], [name]Carly[/name], [name]Lottie[/name], [name]Charlie[/name] and [name]Lola[/name], but she thinks it’s too late for her to take one on now. I love [name]Lottie[/name] and [name]Lola[/name] the best and I would absolutely name a baby girl [name]Charlotte[/name]. It’s a great name!

(Also, [name]Charlotte[/name] is number 27. My name was number 7 the year I was born and I was always the only one in my class.)

I know two [name]Charlotte[/name]'s. [name]One[/name] goes by [name]Lotte[/name] (same as [name]Lottie[/name]) and the other just by [name]Charlotte[/name] (and very occasionally [name]Char[/name]).

I don’t know any. Of any age.

I know two Charlottes. [name]Both[/name] in their teens, one 14 and one 18. I do think [name]Lottie[/name] would make [name]Charlotte[/name] more unique though. Plus [name]Lottie[/name] is such a cute nn (but not overly cutesy).

I know two and both of them just go by [name]Charlotte[/name], although one of them is occasionally [name]Char[/name] from friends. I love [name]Lottie[/name], btw! Very charming

I only know of a few and none of them go by any nickname.

BTW I [name]LOVE[/name] the nickname [name]Lottie[/name] for [name]Charlotte[/name], a few years ago (when I was 11/12) I wan’t to rename myself [name]Lottie[/name]. Over that now but still think it’s an amazing name.

I’ve met one whose probably about six now she went by [name]Charlotte[/name]

I know one [name]Charlotte[/name], and she is around 12 years old. She just goes by [name]Charlotte[/name].

I have known 2 and they are both in their mid to late 20s. My husband and I are planning on naming our baby [name]Charlotte[/name] if it turns out to be a little girl. I keep hearing about how popular it is but I have yet to meet a baby [name]Charlotte[/name]. Maybe it’s just not as popular in NJ? Anyway, I have been wrestling with the popularity issue and I have decided that I will use it anyway. I picked the name out along with [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Lily[/name] many years ago. I gave up the other two I can’t bare to part with [name]Charlotte[/name] too. So… if you love use it, in my opinion.

I know three Charlottes, all of whom go by [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]One[/name] or two of them are called [name]Char[/name] occasionally, but never ever [name]Lottie[/name]. If you call her [name]Lottie[/name], I wouldn’t worry about it at all.

I know 4 Charlottes, all are under 7.

1 goes by [name]Charlie[/name]
3 go by full name

I live in Australia and I know 5 Charlottes - none of them go by [name]Lottie[/name]. They are all under 14. I’m a teacher and I’ve never actually taught a [name]Charlotte[/name].
[name]Charlotte[/name] (14): goes by [name]Charlotte[/name] mostly
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Esther[/name] (8): goes by [name]Charlie[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Anne[/name] (5): goes by full name [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Mia[/name] (3): goes by [name]Charli[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Paige[/name] (4 months): goes by [name]Charlotte[/name] but her Mum has said when she gets older they will probably call her [name]Charli[/name] or [name]Lottie[/name]

This is fascinating as the name is so high on the popularity charts but now I think about it I only know one and she’s six. Stunning name and lovely nn. Where are all these Charlottes???

I only know of one [name]Charlotte[/name], who is 4 and she just goes by [name]Charlotte[/name]. No nickname.

I love [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Lottie[/name] and for a while thought it was going to be my future baby’s name. I’m not usually a nn person, but I melt when I hear [name]Lottie[/name]. However, I’ve met a lot of Charlottes and the luster of the name has worn of - for me. I think that this may be because the name is now associated with other faces though, not necessarily because of popularity. I honestly am not sure.

I do research with children and met at least four or five [name]Charlotte[/name]'s within the last two years. However, I don’t remember any of them going by [name]Lottie[/name]. Maybe one of them? Most had no nn or went by [name]Charlie[/name]. They were babies/young toddlers when I saw them, so they’d be about two or three by now. Also, I knew one [name]Charlotte[/name] in college and am currently in graduate school with a [name]Charlotte[/name] (neither goes by a middle name). I have also casually met a few older women (middle age or above) with that name.

Anyway, while [name]Charlotte[/name] may be quite popular, it really seems like most of them are not going by [name]Lottie[/name]. I think you’re safe!
