[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries! We are considering a variant of [name_f]Cora[/name_f] if this baby is a girl. So far it’s the only girl name that both hubby and I agree on! However, I’m worried about how popular it has become. It’s listed as number 23 in my state. [name_m]How[/name_m] often do you hear it in yours? It doesn’t rule it out—especially considering we are more likely to name her [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], or [name_f]Coretta[/name_f]—two of which don’t even touch the top 1000—but it’s definitely a concern to me. Our daughter’s name, [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], is hardly even heard of and I love that uniqueness. Thoughts? Thanks!
I only know one [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and I’m in the Midwestern US. She’s about 3 years old now. I’ve never even heard of little girls around here named [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], or [name_f]Coretta[/name_f]…I’d imagine they’d be a lot less popular than just [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. I think you’re safe I know it is hard to see your favorite name climb higher in number, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll be guaranteed to run into a [name_f]Cora[/name_f] on every street corner.
I don’t know any young girls named [name_f]Cora[/name_f] in my state in the mid-Atlantic US. I have 2 older friends named [name_f]Cora[/name_f] (60s/70s). I say go for [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], or [name_f]Coretta[/name_f]-- all great names!
I don’t know any Coras at all, so I wouldn’t let the popularity put you off. I do love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cora[/name_f] though, especially with [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] (such a beautiful name that isn’t used enough!)
Thanks! We’ve discussed [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] too. ”
One. She’s my cousin
[name_m]Zero[/name_m] actually
None, but I love it
I don’t know anyone named [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and I’m not even totally sure I’ve ever met one. I’m not around kids much, but I haven’t come across any older Coras either.
None…and I’m a teacher so I know a LOT of kids. I would love to meet a little [name_f]Cora[/name_f]!
Unfortunately, it’s one of the ones I hear most often. The ones I seem to notice with regularity (discounting top 10 names, which I honestly don’t hear that much) are [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], and [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] I’d say is the second most popular, and I have come across probably 10 in the last couple of years. Of varying ages, but a lot of them are little ones. I had a coworker who almost used [name_f]Cora[/name_f], but she had a son instead, and he’s [name_m]Gavin[/name_m]. And a manager who has a [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. I think she’s the only one who has a fuller name, though; most of them are just [name_f]Cora[/name_f] (or [name_u]Kora[/name_u], or Korah, etc.).
I think it’s a pretty name, but I won’t touch [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], and [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] for that reason. I don’t mind popularity in general, but [name_f]Cora[/name_f]'s one of the ones I feel like I’m hearing all the time, and I don’t love it enough to love it DESPITE its popularity.
I adore [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], though, and would happily consider that as a middle, but it’s not really me as a first. I think [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], and [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] are perfect together, though, for what it’s worth! And if you really love [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and that’s all you can agree on, why not? It’s a beautiful name, and I’m sure I’m just in a pocket of Coras.
Good luck!
Never met one or a variant. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name!
Never met a [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. But my niece is Korrinne, in her twenties.
I’ve met one but I live in the UK and it’s not a very common name here.
I know two. I went to school with one and I have an acquaintance whose daughter’s name is [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] but goes by [name_f]Cora[/name_f].
I don’t know any [name_f]Cora[/name_f]'s! I think it’s a beautiful name and I especially like it as a nickname for [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
I don’t think I actually know one. I’m sure I’ve met one in passing but none come to mind.
I know one [name_f]Cora[/name_f] who is 4ish? Her full name is [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f].
I work as a substitute teacher for all age ranges and I’ve only met one [name_f]Cora[/name_f]! Her full name was [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and she was in Kindergarten. It’s a lovely name! [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] is my favorite longer version with [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] being a close second!
My grandfather’s sister is named [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. She’s the only one I’ve ever met.
