Help!!! My husband and I are engaged, and we’d decided to name our son [name]Joffrey[/name], sort of a tribute to my favorite character on Game of Thrones, (weird I get it a lot) but now we can’t decide on a middle name. [name]How[/name] many middle names do you think are to many?
Your favourite character is [name]Joffrey[/name]? Wow.
I’d say two middle names is fine, any more than that is getting a bit royal family wannabe.
Two middles are normal to me. Three are the most I’d ever use, and that would be if my future DH wanted to specifically honor someone, or if we couldn’t agree on just two.
I agree, two middle names is probably the limit. Any more and you start to seem a bit pretentious, like you think you’re a member of royalty or something.
I like the idea of two middle names, and at the same time, I feel like two middle names sounds a bit pretentious. I admire it on other people’s children, but I think I’d be too unsure to actually go for it myself.
I think the more important issue is naming your child after [name]Joffrey[/name]… I would be traumatized if I found out that’s who my parents named me after. The name itself is fine, but imagining a child thinking, “Oh cool, my name was inspired by this character…” and goes and reads the books… Gulp.
I think in most circumstances you should stop at two. I wouldn’t think three middle names was pretentious if there was a good reason for it - like maybe you were only having one child and you had extra people that were really important to you to honour - but for practicality if nothing else, I wouldn’t recommend.
[name]Joffrey[/name], however, I think would be a baaad idea.
[name]Joffrey[/name] … your favourite character? Wow, you’re the first [name]Joffrey[/name] fan I’ve heard of.
I think 3+ middles are more suiting for royal families, however if you have a legitimate reason for giving your child three middle names, I think that’s alright (especially concerning mum’s maiden name etc.). Two middles are great though, that’s what I prefer.
I think two middles is the limit. [name]One[/name] of my friends gave her daughter five middle names, and that was way too many! As for your favourite character being [name]Joffrey[/name]… fine, it’s your choice if you like an evil, sadistic teen king, but to name your son after him? I think that is a bad idea.
Troll. Surely. No one could possibly like the [name]King[/name] of Fail. I refuse to believe it, lol.
That’s what I was thinking. There is pretty much nothing redeemable about [name]Joffrey[/name]'s character.
Personally, I think any more than one is too many to saddle a kid with.
Two is my personal limit. I know some people with 3 middles, and I think that is a bit much. About [name]Joffrey[/name]… I would think twice about naming a child after such an evil/negative character. The name itself is nice, but the association is too much for me.
