[name_m]Vermont[/name_m] I see as an outdoorsy, plaid-shirted fellow in his 30’s. Attractive and kind, with [name_m]Monty[/name_m] or [name_m]Monte[/name_m] as a nickname.
Evanston I picture as a doctor or professor, someone intellectual and gentle, a [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] fellow.
[name_m]Dresden[/name_m] strikes me as a gorgeous British blonde, like [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] Crawley on Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u].
The others - [name_u]Tangier[/name_u], [name_u]Morocco[/name_u], [name_u]Peru[/name_u], [name_u]Persia[/name_u], [name_m]Moab[/name_m], [name_m]Taos[/name_m], and [name_m]Zaire[/name_m] - all seem like fantasy male names. Like someone one would relish as a lover, but harder to imagine on a husband.
“[name_u]Morocco[/name_u], will you come dry the dishes?” or “[name_m]Taos[/name_m], did you take out the garbage yet?” do sound a bit silly, though dancing the tango with [name_u]Tangier[/name_u], not so bad.
I absolutely love [name_m]Dresden[/name_m]. I heard it as a surname on a one-season tv show years ago. He was called [name_m]Dresden[/name_m] most of the time and I thought it would be a great first name. I don’t feel strongly about any of the other names on the list.
Yes, [name_m]Dresden[/name_m] is wonderful, at least to me. I’ve never met or seen a [name_m]Dresden[/name_m], but there’s something about the combination of a classic -en or -den male suffix, the fragility yet perseverance of fire-bombed [name_m]Dresden[/name_m], and the beauty of the china itself that makes me envision a [name_m]Dresden[/name_m] as both gentle and strong (and drop dead gorgeous).
Isn’t it funny how we fall in love with names as though they were alive?
[name_u]Morocco[/name_u] - warm, welcoming, has an international vibe, makes for the great nn [name_m]Rocco[/name_m], I envision an aspiring artist or a person with an artistic ability
[name_m]Zaire[/name_m] - strong name, I envision a man with honor, a leader.
Honestly, I don’t really like any of them. With the exception of [name_m]Taos[/name_m] and [name_m]Moab[/name_m] (with which I’m not familiar) I just picture a country or town. Kind of like naming your kid “[name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m],” you know?
[name_m]Taos[/name_m] does have a nice ring to it…but I’m not convinced :).
I wonder why [name_u]Tangier[/name_u], [name_m]Taos[/name_m], [name_u]Persia[/name_u], and [name_m]Moab[/name_m] are the least liked of this bunch (at least so far)?
After all, the other names are kind of out there too.
Maybe b/c of lack of immediate nicknames?
Though [name_u]Tangier[/name_u] could go by [name_m]Tan[/name_m], [name_m]Tanner[/name_m], Angier and [name_u]Persia[/name_u] could be [name_u]Percy[/name_u] or [name_u]Perry[/name_u], and [name_m]Moab[/name_m] could be [name_u]Mo[/name_u] or [name_m]Moe[/name_m].
[name_m]Taos[/name_m], I can’t think of a nickname, but I still love it.
