[name]Hi[/name] everyone!
how long after birth did you fit into regular pre-pregnancy clothes again? Any idea?
About a week! I was lucky!
I was in my regular clothes with the addition of a bella band until my 3rd trimester, but I’m tall and showed really late, so that had something to do with it.
a week? jazz1509- yeah you were super lucky! I gained 36 lbs with my son(size 4 120 lbs. before) and it took me about 6 months to fit back into my 4’s and get back to about 123. The worst part about pregnancy/having kids in my opinion. I had to diet and work out consistently for about half of the 6 months to make that happen. I look close to my pre-pregnancy figure now but baby #2 is on the way so good-bye figure, lol! When you go from being a size 2-4 and never watching what you to eat to being a size 10-12 for a good 3 months and feeling like you have to watch your food, it is quite depressing! I’m thankful I got back down though.
I was so bloated from about weeks 7-10 that I wore a belly band with my jeans. Once the bloating went down, I’d say I was able to wear regular clothes until about 13 weeks before it got uncomfortable.
ETA: Wait, I’m confused. I was answering the question in the subject line. I was back in pre-preg clothes around 2 months after DD was born. Breastfeeding and forgetting to eat help speed that along.
I really should read questions better before I answer them.
I was in my workout pants and “fat jeans” pretty quickly, but it was probably 6-8 weeks before I was back in my regular jeans. I breast feed and my son had severe dairy and soy allergies, so I lost weight pretty quickly. Within 6 months I was 10lbs less than my pre-pregnancy weight. I regained it and then some when breast feeding slowed down and I went back to my regular diet.
I had to buy new bras around the end of my 1st trimester and beginning of my 2nd. I was wearing my looser jeans and had to buy maternity ones at about 20 weeks. I’m 32 weeks now and still fine in my yoga pants, longer t-shirts, empire-waist dresses and pajamas.
This is my first so I won’t know how long it will take me to get back into my regular clothes for awhile yet!
I never went back into my “regular Clothes”, after an emergency C-section and a small baby with food and reflux issues, I never lost all of the weight. Now Pregnant with number 2 it’s just continuing to pack on. I’m going to be more serious about my post baby health this time around. Chasing after 2 small children needs some serious stamina.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that studies show most women have 5-10 lbs weight gain post pregnancy (and with each subsequent pregnancy) that is very difficult to lose.
Hardly any of my clothes fits now, only my babydoll and maxi dresses, and some jumpers, and of course capes and cardis. I actually managed to squeeze into my skinny jeans until two weeks ago, but it was not comfortable with the baby in there. I love buying maternity clothes, though, so much fun!
I was 7 stone before I got pregnant, now I’m 8.5 (24 weeks). All on the tummy and boobs though. And it’s my first baby.
7 stone! [name]How[/name] tall are you?!
I was tall (5’8 / 172cm) and relatively slender (size 4, mostly, and 6; UK 8-10). I gained 22lbs total, which is less than recommended but I was working full-tilt and rarely had time to eat much. Poor [name]Antoine[/name] was nourished entirely on prenatal vitamins and hospital cafeteria food.
Anyway, being the saucy minx I am, most of my clothes were very tight-fitting. I was able to wear regular trousers with a bella band until the third trimester, but honestly maternity clothes (particularly trousers) were so much more comfortable. Anything loose-fitting I wore all the way up to the end, trousers excepted. Afterwards the weight was back to the same number by about 6 months with no effort or intervention whatsoever, but it’s certainly distributed a bit differently. I still wear about 2/3 of my pre-pregnancy clothes, but the other 1/3 make me look like a sausage.
Bladey, you WERE tall? Did you shrink after your pregnancy??
I’m 5’4, quite skinny. I use size 4 & 6 (0 & 2).
Haha, that’s the way I read it too. [name]Don[/name]'t laugh too hard though - I weigh less now than I did before I got pregnant, and I’m pretty sure I’ve shrunk height-wise too. [name]Gravity[/name] + heavy baby = Slumpy McOucherson.
Ha! You’re right. The weight of the world on my shoulders, etc.
20ish weeks for button pants and my tighter yoga stuff, other things I can still fit into.now.
Not true for me (thank goodness, lol…not that there is anything wrong with being one size or another, but looking at my siggy you can see for me at least that would be a lot of weight gain! ) but in general, I have heard “9 months in, 9 months out” in regards to loosing weight after baby comes.
I’m hoping I can get back to my pre-pregnancy weight range relatively quick. I’d rather be healthy than lose weight too fast, but I miss my clothes. I don’t entirely feel like myself in my limited pregnancy wardrobe.
Fyi, my feet grew since my first pregnancy. I was a 9 1/210 before [name]Seb[/name] and am now up to a 10 1/2-11.
That’s what I’m afraid of! I have way too many cute shoes. Different sized feet would upset me worse than a different sized body since clothes have a little more give than shoes do.
[name]Alex[/name], take heart. I don’t think the foot thing happens to everyone. My feet were flatter during pregnancy (and fatter - swelling sucks!) and therefore a bit longer, but my old shoes fit again now!
That’s good to hear. I’m about 32 weeks and haven’t noticed any change in them yet, so I figure that’s a good sign. I haven’t had any issues with swelling in my ankles yet either, although I know it may happen. So far only my belly and boobs have grown, everything else is essentially the same.
