How popular/trendy do you think these names really are? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know anyone by these names? [name_m]Just[/name_m] curious as I like them but don’t want a very popular name.
Daisy- 2 (both around my age)
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]- 0, but my friend’s niece has the name
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]- 0
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f]- 0
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]- 1 (around age 6)
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f]- 0
I know of one baby [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], but it is a name I am quite familiar with from Downton’s [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Mason[/name_u], to up-and-coming actress [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u], to [name_f]Katy[/name_f] [name_u]Perry[/name_u]’s new daughter. It’s definitely not unheard of and wouldn’t be surprising.
Willa would be unexpected! I have never heard of or met a [name_f]Willa[/name_f] of any age. It’s one of those that is vaguely familiar for most people/wouldn’t be weird, but stands out in a good way.
Olive and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] – same as [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is a fresh alternative to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]! [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is a little cutesy, but certainly checks the unexpected box.
Violet is more common than all of these. I know of a baby [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and I definitely find it to be more common to hear about. It is in the Top 100 in the US, so that isn’t surprising.
I know zero [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]’s, [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]’s or [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]’s, two [name_f]Olive[/name_f]’s, At least one [name_f]Violet[/name_f] (excluding variations and hyphenated name), and I feel like I know a [name_f]Willa[/name_f] but I can’t think of who they are.
The only one that I would say is very popular would be [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. I know 7 Daisies my age, and honestly seem to meet a new one every week. I think it’s going to rise in popularity too, given [name_f]Katy[/name_f] [name_u]Perry[/name_u]’s recent use of it for her little one. I’ve never met a [name_f]Willa[/name_f], but I’ve encountered it in use, and I’ve encountered a couple of Olives. I’ve never actually encountered a [name_f]Violet[/name_f], though given its charting, I’m sure I should have. [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] are quite rare, but absolutely lovely!
I love these names, especially [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]! Here are my thoughts:
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]: Used to be extremely popular back in the late 1800’s, dropped down in the 1900’s, but is quickly rising since 1980, and is currently #164. It is a lot more popular in the UK, and is #31 in [name_f]England[/name_f] and [name_m]Wales[/name_m]. I would say it is a classic, but trendy. [name_f]Willa[/name_f]: Reached it’s peak in the early 1900’s, dropped out of favour in the late 1900’s, but has quickly risen in the 2000’s. With the birth of [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_m]Jonas[/name_m], daughter of singer [name_m]Joe[/name_m] [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] and actor [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_m]Turner[/name_m], I think that [name_f]Willa[/name_f] will continue to rise. It is currently #354 in the USA and #897 in [name_f]England[/name_f] and [name_m]Wales[/name_m]. [name_f]Olive[/name_f]: Big in the 1890’s, and yet to return to it’s old popularity, although slowly rising. #213 in the USA and #109 in [name_f]England[/name_f] and [name_m]Wales[/name_m]. Like the names you listed above, definitely a classic, but not so much a trending classic. [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]: Like [name_f]Olive[/name_f], big in the 1890’s, but fell quickly in the early 1900’s. Unlike other vintage names, [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] has not begun it’s climb to the top again. It isn’t in the top 1000 in the USA and in [name_f]England[/name_f] and [name_m]Wales[/name_m]. [name_f]Violet[/name_f]: Popular in the early 1900’s, [name_f]Violet[/name_f] fell in the early 1900’s but is rising quickly. It is currently very popular, #36 in the UK and #51 in the USA. Unlike the other names, this name is more popular now than it was in the past. Definitely a trendy classic. [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]: Big in the 1880’s, but dropped pretty quickly and has not made a comeback. Like [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] has not begun it’s climb to the top again. It isn’t in the top 1000 in the USA and in [name_f]England[/name_f] and [name_m]Wales[/name_m].
In [name_m]General[/name_m]: most of these names were popular around the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, dropped out of favour during the 1900’s, and are now rising quickly in their return to popularity. [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] are the exceptions, as they are yet to make the comeback.
Daisy - the only [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]’s I know are dogs and I know 2 of them. I don’t know any kids by the name of [name_f]Daisy[/name_f].
Willa - I don’t know any [name_f]Willa[/name_f]’s in real life, but I hear that name all the time on hear. That makes me think it is starting to get popular!
Olive - Another one that I haven’t heard in real life but hear a lot on here.
Goldie - I don’t know anyone by the name [name_f]Goldie[/name_f].
Violet - I know maybe 1 or 2 Violets in real life.
Birdie - I don’t know anyone by the name of [name_f]Birdie[/name_f].
I’ve heard [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] used a couple times each. I have seen [name_f]Violet[/name_f] most often so I think that’s the most popular of the set. I’ve never met a [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] or [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]!
I’ve never met a [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]…
I’ve (sadly) never met a [name_f]Willa[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is popular.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] is definitely popular.
Never met a birdie or [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]
I know of one [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], know one [name_f]Violet[/name_f] & have met (when she was still a baby) one [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. I not heard of the others being used in recent years. All are under the age of 12, with the youngest being 5 if I’m not mistaken. I’m in the US.
I know a [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and a [name_f]Violet[/name_f], both preschool age, and one adult (20s) [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. I also know a couple of adult Daisys, again both in their 20s. I’ve never met anyone with any of the other names, though I do know of a little [name_u]Willow[/name_u], which is similar to [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. I’m in the UK.
Willa and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are the only popular ones where I live - I’ve met a handful of each. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] are ones I’ve never heard in person!
All of these names do get mentioned on this site frequently, so they feel on trend to me (not the same as overused). I know children named [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], and [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
