how popular is Annabelle?

I’m really loving [name]Annabelle[/name] right now for a girl, but I am concerned about the popularity of the name. [name]How[/name] popular would you say this name is? If it’s not very popular right now, do you think it will be in the future. If we used it, she would only go by [name]Annabelle[/name], not [name]Anna[/name] or [name]Belle[/name], or [name]Bella[/name] or anything else. Also do you prefer [name]Annabelle[/name] or [name]Annaliese[/name]?

  • belle/-bel/-bella names are all red hot right now. To me, [name]Annabelle[/name] is not too popular, but I think it depends on how much is too popular for you. Annabelle is #117 on SSA list. I prefer [name]Annabel[/name] spelling, but [name]Annabelle[/name] is nice as well. I like it more that [name]Annaliese[/name]. Good luck.

i teach grades 5 and 6 and i have had an annabelle/annabel 3 out of the past 5 years in my class…

oh, sorry! i forgot to say that i teach in Australia…

In Australia [name]Annabelle[/name] is #38 and there are many similar names in top 100 eg [name]Bella[/name], [name]Isabel[/name], [name]Isabella[/name] etc. Definitely not a unique or uncommon name but if you love it use it!

[name]Love[/name] [name]Annabelle[/name]! If [name]Isabelle[/name] wasn’t my favorite girls’ name, [name]Annabel[/name]/[name]Annabelle[/name] probably would be on my top five. I think it’s perfect.

As for its popularity, in real life, I only know of one (the granddaughter of a former coworker), but on name boards, I’ve come across many more–probably at least five or six. Since [name]Isabella[/name] is so popular, people are looking for [name]Bella[/name] alternatives, and [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Arabella[/name] are great choices. I think all the [name]Bella[/name] names are going to continue to grow in popularity–at least for a while still!

I like [name]Anneliese[/name] (this spelling) a lot, but [name]Annabel[/name] is by far my favorite [name]Ann[/name]- name out there!

Good luck!

[name]Annabel[/name]/[name]Annabelle[/name] is a fairly common name here in the UK, and has been for a decade or so now. I knew quite a few at school. Most ended up getting called [name]Anna[/name] or not shortening, but I know one [name]Annabel[/name] who shortens to [name]Annie[/name] and I think that’s really cute.

I live in the midwest and don’t know of anyone named [name]Annabelle[/name]. [name]Annabelle[/name] is fine but I prefer [name]Anneliese[/name] (spelled this way).
