I love and my husband LOVES the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. I know it’s very popular on nameberry but what do you berries think about it in the real world?
I really love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] as well. According to charts it’s at #175 but I honestly don’t think it’s that popular. I’ve never personally met a [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] of any age so I think it depends where you live.
Like @bowtiful mentioned, [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] was #175 in 2012 but it’s rising quickly. In 2008, it was 345, so it’s gone up 170 spots in 5 years.
That #175 ranking equals out to 1768 babies born with the name of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. I met a baby named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] last spring but that’s the only one in my area I’ve ever met. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] strikes me as being a hipster name so I guess it depends on what the naming styles in your area are. Around here, it’s the trendy -lee names (Kenslee, [name_f]Kinley[/name_f], [name_f]Tinley[/name_f], [name_f]Tinsley[/name_f], etc.), so [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] feels refreshing and unique.
I love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], it’s just so sweet and spunky. I don’t know any Hazels [name_m]IRL[/name_m].
I love the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and I would love to use it someday. I know two [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]'s in real life. One of them is 14, the other was born in [name_f]September[/name_f]. (I actually got really excited when my lab partner told me that he named his baby [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. Whoops. Name nerd moment. haha)
I love the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and I’ve never met anyone with the name. While I don’t think it’s extremely popular, it definitely got a spike due to the fact that [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Green[/name_u]'s main character in his very popular book “The Fault in Our Stars” is named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].
I know [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is at number 175, but I’ve never met a [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] in my life…
I love it, and I’d use it for a future daughter if I didn’t already have a [name_f]Violet[/name_f]…bit too ‘themey’ for me.
I’ve never met one [name_m]IRL[/name_m].
I’ve been wondering this too! The thing I always have to remember is that the names in the top 20 account for so many little girls. The #1 spot is something like 20,000. I feel like once you’re out of the top 50, you’re looking at healthy sized naming pools. She might meet another [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] from time to time, but I doubt she’s going to have to go by [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] P. or Short [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], or any other indignities forced upon the Jennifers and Jessicas I went to school with.
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is so beautiful, so natural. I would love to use it but my DH doesn’t really like it. If we have another girl I’m going to push hard for [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] as a middle & see if I can break him.
I have only met ONE [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] my entire life & she was in her 60s at the time.
This is encouraging! Thank you guys!
I’m in Australia, and I’ve never met someone named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] before
I know one she is [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and she is 3. I love the name it is popular here but it is one a lot of people talk about but never actually use.
