[name_m]How[/name_m] popular is [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] (not [name_f]Lily[/name_f]) really? I’m considering it as a sister to [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. I always hear about how popular it is but I’ve never met a [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] (I only know of one [name_f]Lily[/name_f]) and I’m a teacher so I come across a lot of kids.
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] would make a lovely sibset! I haven’t met/heard of any little Lillians either, but [name_f]Lil[/name_f]- names ([name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], etc.) are quite popular as a group these days, so it’s one of those names that may feel more popular than it actually is. For what it’s worth, I’ve heard of more little girls named [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] than [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], so if [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] isn’t too popular for you I’d say [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is fine. But I’m not around children much so it might not be a very representative sample.
I know several little Lilys, but no Lillians and really like the full name. I agree that it goes well with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is around 25 for popularity in the US and (surprisingly to me), [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is about the same.
Unless you count [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]/[name_f]Lilian[/name_f] from nameberry, I don’t know anyone. It’s one of those names that sounds really familiar but in reality you hardly know any, I think.
In Australia, [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is at #86.
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]/[name_f]Lilly[/name_f] are much more popular, at #11.
I’m so thrilled with these responses so far! Thank you! I had a sneaking suspicion that it was one of those “seems really popular but actually isn’t” names.
I’m glad the response to a sibset of [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is positive as well! It’s been awful trying to come up with another girl name. Boy names are much easier!
