I’ve always loved the name [name]Violet[/name], as my grandma who I was very close with was named [name]Violetta[/name].
I’ve always hesitated putting it on my name list because it’s #101 right now, and I only see it going up in popularity in the future. I’ve always preferred names that don’t break the top 1000, but [name]Violet[/name] has special meaning.
However, I’ve never met a [name]Violet[/name] in my life, besides my grandma.
[name]How[/name] popular is [name]Violet[/name] around you?
Would you use it?
[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Violet[/name] will go up in popularity or fall in the next 5 years?
[name]Violet[/name] is a beautiful name and was on my list for a long time. Around me (a podunk town in [name]Texas[/name]), it is not popular at all. [name]Violet[/name] is not in the Top 100 in the state, either. I’ve never met a [name]Violet[/name] in my life. I think it might rise a bit higher, but probably not too high for my comfort. I would definitely use it, especially if it had special meaning to me.
[name]Violet[/name] wasn’t my top choice, but it was a contender years ago. The only reason I took it off my list was due to me being afraid she’d be chubby and kids associating her with [name]Violet[/name] Beauregarde. All I could think of was kids saying, “You’re turning [name]Violet[/name], [name]Violet[/name]!” That is probably only an issue for me, though! I get weird associations and just can’t shake them. lol
I love [name]Violet[/name]! But it is really popular, at leat where I am. There were 3 baby Violets born so far in my small town (our church has an electronic sign that announces baptisms)
It used to be on my list but because of popularity I took it off but I dont have the reason you do to love it. But if you love it and it has family significance to you than just use it. [name]Even[/name] though I do see it rising in the next four years, probably stopping in the 40s or 50s, I doubt itll make the top ten.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Violet[/name]… it’s on our list… I have never met another [name]Violet[/name]. I agree, I think it will get a bit more popular but not too much… I dont know if we will actually use [name]Violet[/name]… I was just watching [name]Willy[/name] Wonka and the Chocolate factory last night and got to thinking, My son’s name is [name]Augustus[/name]… probably and [name]Augustus[/name] and a [name]Violet[/name] together might not be so good.
I really like [name]Violet[/name], actually, this was a childhood name crush of mine thanks to the Boxcar Children. I do think it will continue to rise a bit. I dont envision it breaking the top 10 or anything though.
I’ve met 1 baby [name]Violet[/name] and there’s a [name]Violetta[/name] in my husband’s family. Actually, I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Violetta[/name]. Would you ever use it in the same form as your grandmother? Neither [name]Violetta[/name] or [name]Violette[/name] are in the top 1000 and I cant imagine [name]Violetta[/name] taking off in the states anytime soon.
I love [name]Violetta[/name], but I’m scared the traditional pronunciation (Vee-oh-letta) will get lost and not sound as pretty when pronounced by everyday people. I think it would turn into Vai-uh-ledda, which isn’t as pretty to me :(.
Thank you so much for all the help so far! I’m surprised that not many of you know a ton of little [name]Violet[/name]'s running around, which makes me feel better :).
I think it’s a very pretty name, however I have [name]SEVEN[/name] friends who have used it (they don’t all know each other, lol!) in the last few years. [name]One[/name] is a [name]Violette[/name]. Most live here in [name]MO[/name], one in NV, one in [name]Canada[/name], another two in TX. I might have considered it, if not for this. If you truly love the name, however, and don’t know anyone else with it, I say go for it.
I do think [name]Violet[/name] is going to become way more popular, like [name]Lily[/name] has. Or maybe it will have a trajectory more like [name]Rose[/name]'s and become more widespread as a middle name. In any case, people really love flower names (especially these days) and you have to stretch to find one that’s not so common (like [name]Tansy[/name] or [name]Hyacinth[/name]).
I agree that VAI-uh-ledda doesn’t sound right. You could also use [name]Etta[/name] as a nickname (not sure if it appeals to you, but it seems stylish and many people love it) for [name]Violetta[/name] or [name]Violetta[/name] as a middle name.
I love the name [name]Violet[/name], it’s so beautiful. I have never met a [name]Violet[/name]. I can see it gong up in popularity a little bit but nothing extreme.
We’re 99% sure we’re naming this baby [name]Violet[/name] if it’s a girl. I don’t know of any children named [name]Violet[/name]. DS is named [name]Sebastian[/name] which is much more popular in my state than [name]Violet[/name] is, and he’s the only [name]Sebastian[/name] I know. [name]Don[/name]'t worry about name ranking too much.
[name]Just[/name] to devils advocate a little for a name you love…I think you could enforce Vee-oh-let-a! I’ve never heard it pronounced differently? That pronunciation is common enough in MANY languages that, although I guess different from [name]Violet[/name], people should be able to get it.
Is the other way like [name]Violet[/name] with an ‘uh’ tacked on the end? Vy-let-uh? I can barely pronounce that…
I live in an area with tons and tons of kids, and I don’t know any little Violets. I would use it, and I really like it. I think it will rise, but I don’t see it being a top 10 name.
[name]Violet[/name] is becoming very popular. I also think of “[name]Violet[/name]! You’re turning violet, [name]Violet[/name]!” I prefer [name]Viola[/name] or [name]Violetta[/name]
I’ve never heard anyone mispronounce [name]Violetta[/name]
bryanna, I don’t know if this truly answers your question, but this helped me back when I was wondering the same thing about a couple of names on my short list. It’s the Social Security Administration website for baby names…you can search different names by popularity in your state and it’ll show you exactly how many babies were born with that name, etc. [name]Hope[/name] this helps a little!
