I know there are many Nameberry’s that don’t like unisex or male names used on girls, but I really would love to hear your thoughts on how popular you think [name]Quinn[/name] will become for girls in the USA? At 253 and rising, do you think it will break the top 100, 50, 25? Or will the trend die out? Does it have staying power, or will it just be a blip of a name that will fall quickly?
Wow, [name]Quinn[/name]'s only at number 253? I figured it was close to the top 100 already. For the most part, it’s been rapidly rising since 1996, according to an SSA statistics graph I saw (Nickelodeon Parents | Printables, coloring pages, recipes, crafts, and more from your child’s favorite Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. shows.), and I don’t see it stopping anytime soon. It seems to get more attention than other familiar unisex names. I can definitely see it breaking top 100, but I’m not sure how high it’ll go. I doubt it’ll get much higher than top 50.
I think it will never make the top 100. Probably rise a little till number 160 or so and then fall again. I can’t see it becoming popular for boys at all. I only know one and she’s over 30
I suppose it depends on how popular Glee continues to be. For boys, popularity has been steady over the years (n the 200s and 300s). For girls, it seems to have spiked since that show came on the air. Regardless, I don’t imagine it’ll hit the Top 100 for either sex. Feels like a passing fad as a girls name. For the record, I’ve never met a [name]Quinn[/name] (or [name]Quentin[/name] or [name]Quincy[/name] or any related name) of either sex in my life.
I could very well see it breaking the top 100 for either gender. My son is a [name]Quinn[/name] but I think the name works nicely for girls as well. I don’t think it has top 50 or top 10 potential though. [name]Just[/name] enough to scratch the surface of the top 100, but I never expected [name]Avery[/name] to make it so far so you never know.
I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that [name]Quinn[/name] will hit the top 100, especially for girls. [name]Ever[/name] since the sister from [name]Daria[/name] was named [name]Quinn[/name], it seems like people are convinced it’s more girl than boy. While out of all the Quinns born in 2010 only 55% or so were female, I can definitely see the percentage getting higher.
[name]Don[/name]'t get me wrong, I don’t think [name]Quinn[/name] is going to be the next [name]Olivia[/name] or anything like that, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if within the next 10 years or so that [name]Quinn[/name] hits the top 100 for either gender.
I have a hard time with this name because I really like it, and it’s not that I care if it becomes a bit more popular, but I want to try to stay clear of “trendy” names and I fear this name might fall into that category for girls. I do really like it though.
Does [name]Quinn[/name] have trendy written all over it? Maybe I’m over thinking this all. Or maybe I should stick to a more classic, under-the-radar name that has a similar sound to [name]Quinn[/name]… like [name]Gwen[/name], [name]Corinne[/name], [name]Brynn[/name], as this sound really flows well with my last name.
While I haven’t met a [name]Quinn[/name] (boy or girl) in real, they seem to be the pick of choice for GIRLS on tv shows!
The following shows have or had a female [name]Quinn[/name] character:
[name]One[/name] Tree [name]Hill[/name] (show just had it’s series finale)
[name]How[/name] I Met Your Mother (guest star I think)
Glee
Scandal (show just started)
