[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! [name_m]Long[/name_m] time name fan here. I’m not currently expecting but know that I’d like to in the next few years, so I’d really love to fine-tune my shortlist! What are your thoughts on the following? Any feedback/middle suggestions? Favorites and least favorites from the list? Any names you’d cut? Thanks in advance!

Girls

  1. [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] (I prefer this spelling to [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and Margo)
  2. [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] (lately I’ve been loving [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] Capri)
  3. [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]
  4. [name_u]Tierney[/name_u]
  5. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]

Boys

  1. [name_u]Judah[/name_u]
  2. [name_u]Atlas[/name_u]

You and I have very different styles!

  1. [name_f]Margaux[/name_f]: Very trendy right now and not my style. I think your spelling is very pretty, but will cause her a headache when people mangle it.

  2. [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]: [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] is sweet, and [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Capri[/name_f] is very spunky!

  3. [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]: This is my favorite of your girl names. I wish it got more love because I think it is distinct and interesting.

  4. [name_u]Tierney[/name_u]: I love the idea of this name. However the teasing potential is high. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter has a friend named this and my husband honestly thought her friend was named Tyranny and thought it was the worst name he’d ever heard.

  5. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]: Reminds me of mauve and I picture an old lady who smells like mothballs.

  6. [name_u]Judah[/name_u]: Very handsome! I also love [name_u]Jude[/name_u].

  7. [name_u]Atlas[/name_u]: This doesn’t seem like a real name to me.

  8. [name_u]Franklin[/name_u]: I love [name_u]Franklin[/name_u]! I also like [name_m]Frank[/name_m] and [name_u]Frankie[/name_u].

  9. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (“Teddy”): [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], love [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], love [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. It’s so popular, but that’s because it’s a fantastic name!

  10. [name_u]Luca[/name_u]: I’ve never understood the appeal of this. It seems strange to me, and I can’t articulate why.

Welcome to Nameberry!

Margaux: not my favorite spelling, but I like the name.
Brynn: a very, fun, sweet name! Brynn Capri isn’t my style at all, but I like the flow!
Bianca: not for me, but a nice name.
Tierney: also not for me, but I agree that it’s a name with teasing potential.
Maeve: easily my favorite! I love the name Maeve. It’s more modern to me, maybe because I only know younger Maeves.
Judah: I prefer Jude to Judah, but it’s still a very nice name!
Atlas: Atlas is amazing! It would probably need a more grounded middle name, but I think it’s super fun.
Franklin: seems a little old to me, but usable. The nickname Frankie is cute!
Theodore: I love Theodore as well! Both Teddy and Theo are cute nicknames, but I prefer Theo.
Luca: I also really like Luca; it’s such a fun name!

margaux - i love this spelling, although i’m not sure if i’d recommend using it in real life. that said, margaux is a really nice name! it’s elegant and chic with cute nicknames

brynn - not my style, it sounds a bit too trendy and insubstantial to me. sorry!

bianca - bianca is really fun! it has a cheerful, summery sound. i like it!

tierney - not a fan personally, i wouldn’t know how to spell it and i don’t like any of the nicknames

maeve - maeve is sweet, springlike and pretty. a wonderful little name

judah - judah has an effortlessly cool sound and look that i really like! it’s a little unexpected but still familiar, and nickname jude is cute. overall great

atlas - another very cool choice. it’s handsome!

franklin - i love franklin! while it’s on trend with all the surname names, it has a slight vintage feel to it, and it sounds very sweet. frankie is a fun nickname too!

theodore ‘teddy’ - i’m conflicted, because i love love love teddy, it’s one of my favourite nicknames for a name (for edison and edmund on my own list) but i’m a bit tired of theodore, i feel like i know way too many young theodores

luca - another one that i love! it feels romantic but down-to-earth and has a handsome sound

[name_f]Margaux[/name_f] - while this isn’t my favourite spelling, I really love the sound and this has a lot of flair and style! Feels fashionable but vintage. For middle names, I’d consider [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]

[name_f]Bianca[/name_f] - not a personal favourite, not even sure why, but it’s distinctive, interesting and sparky with a kick. [name_u]Judah[/name_u] - handsome and solid but fresh. I personally prefer the easy sounds of [name_u]Jude[/name_u], but [name_u]Judah[/name_u] is cool too. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is my favorite from your girl list. [name_u]Tierney[/name_u] is my least favorite.

I probably like all your boy names equally except [name_u]Atlas[/name_u]. Don’t care for that one.

I like your ideas!

Great lists!

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites for girls are [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]! Both are strong, spunky and sweet! The only one I don’t really care for is [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] because it feels a little dated to me.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite from your boys list is, without question, [name_u]Atlas[/name_u]! Modern sounding, yet mythological! [name_u]Judah[/name_u] isn’t my style, but all the rest are solid names.

[name_f]Margaux[/name_f] + [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] would make such a cool sibset! For middles, I’ll suggest [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] + [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]! 🩶

Girls:

I love [name_f]Margaux[/name_f], [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] but for me [name_u]Tierney[/name_u] is a boy’s name, I don’t like it on a girl

Boys:

I love [name_u]Judah[/name_u], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] is ok but just feels very old man name to me, I can’t see it on a child yet personally. [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] just makes me think of objects - an atlas, I feel like it’s giving a child an object name even though I know it’s the name of a Greek god…but maybe it’s also the sound… I’m not a fan of [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] either…so :woman_shrugging:t2:

[name_f]My[/name_f] thoughts

[name_f]Margaux[/name_f] ~ absolutely gorgeous very glamorous, elegant and sophisticated with a fashionable energy. I love the meaning ‘Pearl’ as well. I would love something like [name_f]Colette[/name_f] paired with [name_f]Margaux[/name_f].

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] ~ a bright, sharp, sleek choice that feels crisp. [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] isn’t a name I naturally gravitate towards but I can appreciate her and I love paired with [name_f]Capri[/name_f]. A name similar to [name_f]Capri[/name_f] that could work as a middle name is [name_f]Eleri[/name_f].

[name_f]Bianca[/name_f] ~ feels glamorous and elegant with a European flair that is shaking off that Eastenders imagery i associate with her. Maybe [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u] or [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f].

[name_u]Tierney[/name_u] ~ a cool surname choice that feels fashionable I would pair with an unexpected nature choice like [name_f]Lavender[/name_f].

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] ~ a lovely [name_u]Irish[/name_u] name that feels soft and wholesome. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] has that outdoorsy rustic vibe which is appealing.

[name_u]Judah[/name_u] ~ for me this isn’t a favourite however I do love [name_u]Jude[/name_u] I would pair [name_u]Judah[/name_u] with something outdoorsy maybe has a cowboy flair like [name_u]Wyatt[/name_u].

[name_u]Atlas[/name_u] ~ a lovely mythological choice that’s handsome and worldly. [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] would be fun.

[name_u]Franklin[/name_u] ~ this name is getting attention amongst vintage name loving Brits and I can see why he’s cute but dependable. I would pair with a cool nature word name like [name_u]Evergreen[/name_u] or [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u].

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] ~ a lovely cuddly classic that I’m genuinely very fond of. I have [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] [name_u]Hayes[/name_u] on my list but I also like the idea of [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u].

[name_u]Luca[/name_u] ~ a lovely European choice that feels cool and looks visually appealing. [name_u]Luca[/name_u] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] or [name_u]Luca[/name_u] [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] could be fun.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

Thank you so much for all your feedback! It took me back to the drawing board again and I think this is my current ranking with middles.

Girls

  1. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Clea[/name_f] — Clea’s a new find for me, but I feel like it really balances out how warm [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] feels
  2. [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Capri[/name_f] — Still love this combo and it’s a name that I’d want. [name_m]Just[/name_m] very cool without feeling too trendy.
  3. [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] — I think this might be tied with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], but if I’m thinking sisters, I love the idea of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]
  4. [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] — This probably won’t be popular, but I really like the sing-songy ness of this. I’ve also thought about pulling a [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] and naming a daughter [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], after myself
  5. [name_u]Tierney[/name_u] [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] — Definitely see the teasing potential here, which is unfortunate because I think it has such a sweet sound, but it’d be impossible to escape the Tyranny comparison. [name_f]Corinne[/name_f], [name_f]Estella[/name_f], and [name_u]Marie[/name_u] are quickly approaching this number 5 slot.

Boys

  1. [name_u]Judah[/name_u] [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] — I love [name_u]Jude[/name_u] as well, like some of you said, but the meaning of [name_u]Judah[/name_u] is very special to me and there’s always the nickname option for [name_u]Jude[/name_u]! I’ve always been more partial to girl names and this might be the first boy name that really elicited that swoon reaction.
  2. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] “Teddy” — I love [name_u]Theo[/name_u] just as much as [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], but if I’m thinking of using these for future kids, there’s a TON of little Theos in my world. Also, the suggestion of [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is probably the second boy name to make me swoon. It reminds me of [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] from [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] the Pooh.
  3. [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] — Unsure if I love the shared L sound here, but I do think it’s a nice combo. I think [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] is definitely a “cool” name, and when I get in my head, I wonder if it’d be one of those names that requires a specific personality.
  4. [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] — definitely more old man, but would love to honor a family member who passed away a couple years ago who meant (and means) the world to me, plus I think the nickname [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] is really cute while he’s young!
  5. [name_u]Luca[/name_u] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] — the meaning of [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is so special, but the others still top of for me!

[name_f]Margaux[/name_f]: I love [name_f]Margaux[/name_f]! I don’t love this spelling but I think it works. I think [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] is sweet and vintage yet fresh and fun!

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f]: [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] is very sweet! [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Capri[/name_f] is fun combo! I like it!

[name_f]Bianca[/name_f]: I personally am not a huge fan of this name but it is nice.

[name_u]Tierney[/name_u]: I’m not a fan of this one either. Maybe cause I have bad associations with it but I don’t love the sound of it either.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]: I love [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]! Fun pretty and fresh!

[name_u]Judah[/name_u]: I like it! [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is a great nickname too!

[name_u]Atlas[/name_u]: Not my personal style but I like it! It’s super cool!

[name_u]Franklin[/name_u]: [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] is sweet! It gives old man vibes in the absolute best way possible. I love [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] as a nickname.

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]: I love [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]!

[name_u]Luca[/name_u]: I also really love [name_u]Luca[/name_u]!

[name_f]Margaux[/name_f]: I usually like this name regardless of how it’s spelled, and I do like this spelling, since it’s unique but doesn’t sound overly “creative” to the point where it’s too much either.

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f]: I don’t have a super strong opinion on this one tbh, I don’t particularly like it but I don’t dislike it either.

[name_f]Bianca[/name_f]: Not my personal style but definitely a nice, unusual name, I’d be excited to see it if someone else used it.

[name_u]Tierney[/name_u]: It’s ok, but the pronunciation isn’t very intuitive and I feel like that could be an issue if it isn’t super common where you live.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]: Again, I don’t really have a super strong opinion. It’s pretty, but not super exciting to me.

[name_u]Judah[/name_u]: Not my favorite, I don’t really like the sound of it in general and it’s too close to [name_m]Judas[/name_m] for me personally, though I don’t think it’s unusable because of that. I prefer [name_u]Jude[/name_u].

[name_u]Atlas[/name_u]: I didn’t used to like this name, but it’s been growing on me a little lately. It’s definitely noticeably mythological-sounding, but also feels balanced and professional as well.

[name_u]Franklin[/name_u]: A solid, classic name that’s been a bit underappreciated in recent years. I’d be excited to see someone use it.

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] “Teddy”: I do think that because of Theodore’s popularity, I’d normally be inclined to suggest against it, though I don’t hear [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a nickname super often, and I like it and think it could work.

[name_u]Luca[/name_u]: I think it’s a very cool name for a boy or girl, I’d be excited to see it. Though my opinion could be somewhat biased by a positive association.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], also [name_f]Capri[/name_f] … they are all feminine, light and colourful, however [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] is a male name only for me and also makes me think of brine in tuna cans.

I love all your boy names, [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] are all on my list too… I love the vintage but still modern feel of [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] both with great nicknames and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] just feels cool and bright for me.

[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] to Nameberry!

From your girls list, I like [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] (this spelling is so underrated), [name_f]Bianca[/name_f], and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I don’t care for [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] or [name_u]Tierney[/name_u], but I don’t dislike them either.

From your boys list, I love [name_u]Atlas[/name_u], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], & [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. I don’t love [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] or [name_u]Judah[/name_u] but I still think they’re sweet!

I like a lot of your combo ideas! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Clea[/name_f] is lovely (Clea is so underrated!). [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is so sweet and melodic. I also like [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]!

Oh, [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is just lovely — I picture a little boy with yellow rainboots venturing into the forest, with wild curly hair and big, dark eyes and a huge smile. [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is very cool too!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I love a good advanced shortlist! I recall my similar posts before I was pregnant with this one!

[name_f]Margaux[/name_f] - not my favourite spelling (much prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f] personally), but it’s a really cute name and I think carries from infancy to adulthood well. I see Margot/Margaux with a middle like [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] or [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f].

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] - I have only known male Brynn’s but it definitely could work for a girl too. [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Capri[/name_f] isn’t my style but I’d pair it with a beautiful girly middle like [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u]

[name_f]Bianca[/name_f] - not to my personal taste again, but a solid choice. To me it feels dated.

[name_u]Tierney[/name_u] - personally I don’t like Surname names on girls, but that’s me. I do agree with other Berries about teasing with Tyranny.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] - easily my favourite from your list! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is strong, sweet and spunky! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] would be cute, or [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]

For the boys:

[name_u]Judah[/name_u] - personally I prefer [name_u]Jude[/name_u] but could be a nickname!

[name_u]Atlas[/name_u] - infinitely cool. Very trendy. I think it needs a middle name like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] to ground it.

[name_u]Franklin[/name_u] - a nice name. Not for me but a strong, sweet choice.

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] - also love this name, with versatile nicknames in [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u].

[name_u]Luca[/name_u] - also a nice sweet name.

margaux ~ aw, i love this name so much! this is probably my favorite name written down, but i think i’d go for margo or margot in real life; less of a headache and less correcting people!
brynn ~ a very sunny name, yellow, bright, and bubbly :sunny: it sounds a little trendy for me, though, so i’d probably use it as a middle.
bianca ~ summer! all i can think of is summer. gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous name.
tierney ~ hmm…not too sure about this one? it reminds me of tinsley, in a way, but i dont know, it sounds like it would be a medicine of some sort.
maeve ~ yes! :tangerine: maeve is perfectly the epitome of tulips, spring, and fruits.

judah ~ i prefer jude to this. not too bad, there’s just something a tad off putting about the -ah ending. it feels sudden and a little rushed.
atlas ~ fun, fun, fun! i’d pair a more classic name in the middle spot with him, to make him feel a little more down to earth. very blue and green to me, but in the most spunky way possible! :evergreen_tree:
franklin ~ yes! chronically underrated, deserves so much more love than he gets. nn frankie melts my heart.
theodore ‘teddy’ ~ hmm…teddy is so sweet, soft, and playful :teddy_bear: but theodore on the other hand is a little bit overused, to me. i don’t know what to say about him!
luca ~ easily reminds me of the ocean and the waves. such a romantic and playful name for a little boy! yes!!

Favorites are [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] & [name_u]Atlas[/name_u]. [name_u]Tierney[/name_u] is least favorite girls because it’s similar to Tyranny. Least favorite boys is [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] because I’m not a Frank/Frankie fan personally. I love your list overall!

[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] to nameberry!! And happy name brainstorming :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thoughts on your lists:
[name_f]Margaux[/name_f]: I like this name, and don’t mind the spelling! Any name with multiple spellings tends to fall lower on my own lists though, just because it seems like it could be difficult, but not a huge deal.
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f]: like this one too! Sounds upbeat, outgoing, a bit athletic and outdoorsy, welcoming
[name_f]Bianca[/name_f]: I like the way this sounds, but I don’t love the “white” meaning
[name_u]Tierney[/name_u]: agree with previous commenters that it sounds a bit like “tyranny”
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]: I LOVE [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], and think this is a popular name for a reason! Simple, sleek, and sunny

[name_u]Judah[/name_u]: This name has grown on me a lot just this year! Met a baby [name_u]Judah[/name_u] recently, and the name feels very sweet.
[name_u]Atlas[/name_u]: a bit heavy sounding to me, and I don’t love the [name_f]Ayn[/name_f] [name_m]Rand[/name_m] association. Also maybe a bit trendy
[name_u]Franklin[/name_u]: love it! Friendly and sunny
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]: this one feels a bit overused to me, and I’m not sure it merits the popularity quite as much as my beloved [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], but it is a fun name
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]: I like it! Short and snappy

[name_f]Margaux[/name_f]: I like the [name_f]Margo[/name_f] spelling best but either way, for some reason I have never warmed up to this name. I don’t know why, it’s not a bad name, I just don’t like the sound of it.
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f]: I know a woman named [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and I’ve always loved her name. I think it’s pretty and fits at any age.
[name_f]Bianca[/name_f]: Spunky and fun but again, never have liked the sound of it.
[name_u]Tierney[/name_u]: This looks like a cute [name_u]Irish[/name_u] name but I agree with another post, it sounds like the word tyranny and obviously that is not the best association.
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]: [name_f]Beautiful[/name_f] name, [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] are my favorites from your girl names.
[name_u]Judah[/name_u]: I’m not liking this at all to be honest, and I’m not really a fan of [name_u]Jude[/name_u] either. Maybe [name_u]Jonah[/name_u]?
[name_u]Atlas[/name_u]: I used to think this name was awesome but then my sister thought I said “at last” instead of [name_u]Atlas[/name_u] and now she ruined it for me lol.
[name_u]Franklin[/name_u]: I like a lot of the vintage older guy names but [name_u]Franklin[/name_u] has never been one of them, sorry.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]: I prefer just [name_u]Theo[/name_u] but [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] works just fine. Nice sturdy classic, I like it.
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]: Prefer [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] or just [name_m]Luke[/name_m] but [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is growing on me, I’m starting to see the appeal.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite boy name would have to be [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], strong choice!
