How should I spell this name?

I’ve already decided that I like the name [name_f]Miami[/name_f], but I want to spell it differently.
I don’t want to use a spelling that has the names [name_f]Amy[/name_f] or [name_f]Mia[/name_f] in it, so I don’t want to spell it Miamy, lol.
However, I want a spelling that you can still easily tell is pronounced like [name_f]Miami[/name_f] (and not like, say, Miyami Japanese Steakhouse), so minimally confusing, and preferably a spelling that is still different but you believe will not lead to getting picked on later. All feedback is appreciated, Thank you. :slight_smile:

I feel very strongly that the [name_f]Miami[/name_f] spelling will be the only spelling that doesn’t cause your daughter grief.

However, if I had to choose, Myami is the next best option. The others all look very confusing.

I really would just stick with the original spelling. Alternatives are nearly never a good idea, as they just cause confusion and difficulty where there need not be any. Especially in this case, where the [name_f]Miami[/name_f] spelling is almost certainly going to be the one people jump for. Myami is the best and most intuitive of your alternative options, but will cause a lifetime of spelling nightmares.

It’s still the same sound at the end of the day. Why complicate things when most people already know how to spell [name_f]Miami[/name_f]?

I agree with this.

The created spellings actually look odd to my eyes. More like a child’s misspellings. Sorry. I personally would stick with [name_f]Miami[/name_f].

I will have to agree with the previous posters, those spellings look so made up and childish and like youre trying too hard
[name_f]Miami[/name_f] is fine
[name_m]Even[/name_m] if it was Myami or whatever she could still go by [name_f]Mia[/name_f] if she wanted to since its pronounced the same way, so just spare her the trouble

I think [name_f]Miami[/name_f] is nice the way it is! It’s a cute choice. I would love to meet a [name_f]Miami[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] out and about (last name obv assumed). Spunky! But I would agree with the pp’s and say to leave the spelling as is. It’ll just create a lifetime of annoyance in something that will already be unusual: “Like the city?” “[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to [name_f]Miami[/name_f], bienvenidos a [name_f]Miami[/name_f]–like the [name_m]Will[/name_m] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] song!” and then to have to say “but spelled differently…” would add just one more thing.

I personally like the 'i’s in the traditional spelling. I think it makes it look more spunky!

I would find a real name that sounds similar. [name_f]Miami[/name_f] is silly as a name imo.

I would spell it [name_f]Miami[/name_f]. It’s pretty as it is, it doesn’t need any modification.

Please just use [name_f]Miami[/name_f].
She is going to struggle so much in life is her name is spelt [name_f]Miami[/name_f], Myahmee (looks like random letters stuck together), or whatever. Nobody will know how to write it. She will have to repeat and correct people ALL her life. Sorry for the negative comment.
