Which version of the boy name [name_u]Skyler[/name_u]/[name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]/[name_u]Schyler[/name_u] looks most like a boy name to you? Also, which version do you like best?
[name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] looks more masculine, and I think people will be more aware of the pronunciation after the musical [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m] where it’s the surname of 3 sisters
I grew up with a guy named [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]! I prefer that spelling on boys as most of the other posters have said. Sure there might be mispronunciations (but that comes with a lot of names right?) but the most common one I’ve heard is someone pronouncing it “SKEW-ler”. With it rising in popularity, I’m sure the mispronunciations will fade, it is a very handsome name!
I think it depends on where you live. Speaking as a [name_u]Brit[/name_u], I think most people here wouldn’t know how to pronounce [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u], so I personally would choose [name_u]Skyler[/name_u].
I think [name_u]Skyler[/name_u] would work best. I’d have no idea how to pronounce [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] or [name_u]Schyler[/name_u] if I hadn’t seen them on these forums before. I would have probably thought it was Shy-ler.
[name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] is super handsome and is one my list. I do agree that the loss of the [name_u]Sky[/name_u] connection is a caveat, though I suppose it could still be spelled that way as a nn. My favorite spelling is actually [name_u]Skylar[/name_u], though in my mind the Dutch spelling transforms a unisex name into one a presumably male one, which I suppose may be worth it.
I definitely prefer [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]. I know it’s usage is well established but I can’t help but thinking [name_u]Skyler[/name_u] looks made up, which is a big negative for me, personally. And contrary to some previous posters, I personally really [name_f]DO[/name_f] NOT like the “[name_u]Sky[/name_u]” connection.
