Good morning,
Please help me find a compromise for my partner and I for our baby girl due in [name_u]June[/name_u]. I have 3 children from a previous relationship [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] (G 15y), [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] (G 10y) and [name_u]Tully[/name_u] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] (B 8y) and this baby will be my partners first child. We have completely different tastes in names and cannot agree on anything.
Her middle name will most likely be [name_u]Joan[/name_u], after her great grandmother, and surname is 2 syllable, beginning with A.
[name_f]My[/name_f] top 3 names are:
[name_u]Rue[/name_u]
[name_f]Dulcie[/name_f]
[name_u]Winslow[/name_u] ([name_f]Winnie[/name_f])
His top 3 are:
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Lara[/name_f]
He flat out refuses to consider the names I like so i feel like anything else will be a compromise from my side. I’m a teacher so am really wanting to stay away from the popular/ common names. I like shorter names, easy to pronounce and spell. Please give me some suggestions so we can work on a shortlist.
You combine different styles with confidence, & be careful of the flow. I like to do completely different tyles for first + middle names for more versatility & options for a future little ones! ^.^
Thank you, I love [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. I have suggested these before and he wasnt keen but i will suggest them again. We both come from big families so alot of names that i like have been used already
Lara feels like a good middle for your styles. It’s familiar, short and spunky And I think [name_f]Lara[/name_f] [name_u]Joan[/name_u] (LJ) is so sweet!
Ella , [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_u]Tully[/name_u] and [name_f]Lara[/name_f] make a fine sibling set.
His style is more familiar and safe so I think a good middle ground would be
I really like @Greyblue’s suggestion of [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] “[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]”!
Also I agree with @Ehrob1 that [name_f]Lara[/name_f] feels like a good middle ground for your two styles and sounds great with your children’s names.
As I mull different combinations over, I’m liking the rhythms of first names with more than one syllable next to the middle name [name_u]Joan[/name_u], for what it’s worth.
Some other suggestions in the random order in which they occurred to me (sorry for any repeats):
