How to get to Grant

I think we have narrowed our name list down and like the name [name_m]Grant[/name_m]. We are planning to use [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] or [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] alongside. I really prefer [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] but obviously [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] doesn’t sound right. We could do [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and call him [name_m]Grant[/name_m] (both of our other boys go by their middle names because of similar frustrations with syllables etc) but I was hoping to avoid that this time around!

So I’m trying to figure out if there are other names I can use to get [name_m]Grant[/name_m]. The two I’ve though of are [name_m]Grantham[/name_m] and [name_m]Granville[/name_m] (a family name actually!)

So…
[name_m]Grantham[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]
[name_m]Granville[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m]
[name_m]Pierson[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]

Our other kids have very Anglo [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] names so prefer something that somewhat goes with the sibset [name_m]Stafford[/name_m], [name_u]Reed[/name_u] & [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u]

Any other options? Help a Mama out. It takes us [name_u]FOREVER[/name_u] to agree on something and I would love to agree on something this early! Due in [name_u]November[/name_u]!

I would honestly do [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m], or add a name between [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]? (Like [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m], or [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]?) I actually love those names together! I’m a huge proponent of [name_m]Grant[/name_m], though–he’s in my top 4.

If you love [name_m]Granville[/name_m], though, I think [name_m]Granville[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] would be a great way to get to [name_m]Grant[/name_m], is a family name, and flows well! I actually like [name_m]Granville[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] more than [name_m]Granville[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m].

Good luck!

[name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m]

I really like [name_m]Grantham[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] out of the combos you have! The only other “[name_m]Grant[/name_m]” name that I’ve found is “[name_m]Grantley[/name_m]”, but I’m not sure if you like that it shares a similar -ey ending with [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u]. But if you do like [name_m]Grantley[/name_m], I think [name_m]Grantley[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] sounds great too.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps! Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!

[name_m]Even[/name_m] with a two syllable last name?

[name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]?

To me [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u] seems to flow so much better?

I know this was directed toward @boyandgirl and not me, but I also suggested [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m], so I’ll chime in. I would still do [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]–it doesn’t sound bad, imo–I wouldn’t have even noticed that it didn’t flow as well until you compared them. I think [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] flows just fine with [name_u]Walker[/name_u], and I would much prefer the option of having a FN that was the name I went by than to have a name that flowed a bit better but I went by my middle name. Maybe that’s just me, though. If you already have two sons who go by their middle names, maybe it would seem weirder to have a third son who goes by his first name? If you don’t get frustrated with it in [name_m]Stafford[/name_m]'s and [name_u]Reed[/name_u]'s cases, then I wouldn’t think it’d be the end of the world to do it for one more. I do like [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] more than [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]/[name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m], though, but that’s probably just me. I like [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] a lot.

I like Piercea lot too. My husband is [name_m]Peter[/name_m] hence the use of [name_m]Pierson[/name_m]/[name_m]Pierce[/name_m]. I lean more towards [name_m]Grantham[/name_m]/[name_m]Granville[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] because I want to use [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]! But [name_m]Peter[/name_m] just wants to name him [name_m]Grant[/name_m] if we are going to call him [name_m]Grant[/name_m].

Other names I like are [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] and [name_m]Merrit[/name_m]. I think [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] and [name_m]Merrit[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] are both beautiful. But I’m starting to think of the baby as [name_m]Grant[/name_m]. Yikes. I feel stuck!

Oh, no! Well, [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] is nice, although it invariably makes me think of mutton (lamb meat, right? I’m a vegetarian so if it’s not the main types of meat I’m really never too sure lol!), and I do like [name_m]Merrit/name_m [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] a lot, but nowhere near as much as I love [name_m]Grant[/name_m]! Plus, if you’re starting to think of the baby as [name_m]Grant[/name_m], maybe that’s what his name should be. I’m personally not a huge fan of the longer forms, either, so I can see his perspective. (Plus, [name_m]Grant[/name_m] is high on my list, and [name_m]Peter[/name_m] is wiggling his way back into my top 10–he was my first favorite boys’ name–so I’d just name him [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u] and call it a day! lol. The flow’s not great, but I love both of those names together, and [name_m]Stafford[/name_m], [name_u]Reed[/name_u], and [name_m]Grant[/name_m] are great together as brothers. Plus, it’d be much more obvious that he’s named in daddy’s honor!) I do love [name_m]Pierce[/name_m], though, and I’m probably not helping matters any more…

[name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u] sounds perfectly fine.

Oh he refuses to use [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. He says the baby gets his last name and that’s enough. So I am outvoted there for sure. Haha!

I guess there is also [name_m]Peterson[/name_m]?

[name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Peterson[/name_m]
[name_m]Peterson[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]

The more I say/type [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] the less I like it.

We also consisted [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] to honor ours fathers since they are both named [name_m]Donald[/name_m]. We don’t care for [name_m]Donald[/name_m]. But maybe the idea of three names?

Is [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] too much?

I like [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] just fine.

Aww, haha, well, there goes that! If he doesn’t want [name_m]Peter[/name_m], do you think he’d go for a name meaning “[name_m]Peter[/name_m]'s son”? I kind of don’t see it happening, and [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Peterson[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u] sounds like the name of a law firm or something. It flows well, though!

I actually [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m]–it’s perfect style-wise! Honors the grandpas, too. I love the idea of two middles, but I’m so picky about names coming after [name_m]Donovan[/name_m], which is why I probably haven’t gotten a combo for [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] even though I’ve LOVED him for years now. I like just [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m]. But if you really want to get [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] in there, [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] flows really, really well. [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]. Or just [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]. Both are really handsome names!

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]! I kinda like the staccato of the name. I also like [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m], but if you love [name_m]Pierce[/name_m], go for it! One of my children has a first and middle that are each one syllable, and I was hesitant at first. However, the honor name won out over the rhythm, and now I realize how distinctive and pleasant the name is.

[name_f]IMO[/name_f] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u] sounds nice. Especially when you consider [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u] vs. [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]. And flow doesn’t really matter THAT much; your son’s full name probably won’t be used that often.

I see nothing wrong with [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m].
You barely ever say your middle name out loud anyway.
[name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]- also no problems with this. I think you’re overthinking this personally.

I agree [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] is great!

Thanks for all of your replies! We don’t share our names until the baby arrives and I am definitely an over thinker. So it’s hard to over think alone ”

I’m going to run some of the options by Peter since we will eventually decide together. My hunch is we will go with Grant Donovan although I just realized that will make his monogram GED (does that make it a no go?!!!?) I supposed we could follow what we have done with our other boys (who both go their middle names) and then do Donovan Grant.

I really like [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]!

I’m still not sold on the 1-2-2 syllable flow. We switched our middle boy’s name around to be [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Reed[/name_u] instead of [name_u]Reed[/name_u] [name_u]August[/name_u] for that reason.

[name_m]Pierson[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] seems to flow better for me with a two syllable last name. I’m still not totally sold on [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] though. Agh. Back to the drawing board on this one I think. I wish I didn’t find naming so difficult!

I think [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] sounds good. The only issue would be if your last name was only 1 syllable. Go with [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m].
