How to honor Maria & Mabel

Suggestions for honoring a [name_f]Maria[/name_f] AND a [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]?

They both share the diminutive [name_f]Mae[/name_f]/[name_f]May[/name_f] (well, [name_f]Maria[/name_f] does via her connection with [name_f]Mary[/name_f]) but I’m wondering whether you berries can think of something creative I’ve missed.

What about [name_f]Maribel[/name_f]?

[name_u]Lucky[/name_u] for you [name_f]Maria[/name_f] offers such a wonderfully diverse amount of variations and nicknames. Some I like are [name_f]Mamie[/name_f], [name_f]Mitzi[/name_f], [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Marianne[/name_f], [name_f]Maritza[/name_f], [name_f]Marise[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Marie[/name_f]… I personally would go with [name_f]Maria[/name_f]. I think it has a very feminine elegance about it and at the same time it’s strong and I imagine it on a fierce, smart and adventurous little girl. Not to mention the amount of great namesakes.

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] on the other hand… All I can think of is the formerly suggested [name_f]Maribel[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f]/[name_u]Bell[/name_u] or [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. [name_f]Zabel[/name_f] is also a name I recently encountered and that has a lot of spunk on it’s own.

[name_f]Maybelle[/name_f]
Mayelle
Mayrielle

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Maribel[/name_f], [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] & [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] were the first names to come to mind.

I think [name_f]May[/name_f] is simple and lovely and a great way to honour both with one name. There are lots of ways to honour them separately but together I think this is a simple (and pretty and happy and springy sounding ) option.

Ahhh! [name_f]Maribel[/name_f]! Why didn’t I think of that. Thank you, that’s perfect.

As other users mentioned, my first thought was [name_f]Maribel[/name_f]. Why don’t you use variations both in the first and the middle spot? [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is a diminutive of [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] which means beloved. So any name that means beloved could work. I love the name [name_f]Maria[/name_f], it’s my daughter’s name. My first thought was [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] [name_f]Maria[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] [name_f]Maria[/name_f]?

[name_f]Maribel[/name_f] and [name_f]Mariel[/name_f] are good. I liked the suggestion of [name_f]Mamie[/name_f] as well.
Other names I’d suggest
[name_f]Maire[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]
[name_u]Rebel[/name_u]
[name_f]Maeby[/name_f]

[name_f]Maribel[/name_f] is the perfect combination of those two names. [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] as second place.

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] takes the ‘ar’ from [name_f]Maria[/name_f] and ‘bel’ from [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], if that appeals.

Thanks, I do love [name_f]May[/name_f] and would be happy to use it in the middle to honour [name_f]Maria[/name_f] & [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] if we have a more elaborate first name. If we have something very simple as a first, or unisex, then I think [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] might be a better choice. I’m pleased we have options though!

Thanks for your suggestions everyone. I think [name_f]May[/name_f] and [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] are the winners with [name_f]Mariel[/name_f] a close second.

I see how [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and others can honor both but they’re just a stretch too far I think.

[name_f]Happy[/name_f] we know we can use [name_f]May[/name_f] in the middle if we have a frillier first name (e.g. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]) and [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] or [name_f]Mariel[/name_f] in the middle if we have a plainer first name (e.g. [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] or [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Mariel[/name_f]).

Thanks again
