I’ve began discussing baby names with my partner recently, and he’s pretty adamant that if we have another baby and it’s a girl, we have to incorporate his grandma’s name somehow, “preferably in the first name place.” Her name is [name_f]Molly[/name_f], and while it is a lovely name and she is a wonderful person, I don’t want to honor it directly, to avoid confusion.
But I don’t like [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f], or majority of their variations.
From [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], I quite like [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and I don’t mind [name_f]Greta[/name_f], but I don’t love them.
From [name_f]Mary[/name_f], I like [name_f]Malia[/name_f] (pr. MAH lee a) and [name_f]Marie[/name_f], and again I just don’t love them - as first names anyway.
I’m at a bit of a loss right now. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any suggestions for unique-ish ways to honor [name_f]Molly[/name_f]?
From the names I’ve mentioned, which do you think fits best as a future little sister to [name_f]Siena[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]?
My favorite from your list is [name_f]Margo[/name_f], love that name. [name_f]Siena[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] & [name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]? :)[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] or [name_f]Mariska[/name_f]? I can see both of those with sister [name_f]Siena[/name_f]. But to go a little further out there…
You might like [name_f]Samyra[/name_f] (one theory is that [name_f]Mary[/name_f] came from the Egyptian “myr” for beloved/loved).
[name_f]Romola[/name_f] nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u] would be cute. I love the actress [name_f]Romola[/name_f] Garai, she’s so pretty.
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] or [name_f]Lola[/name_f], nn [name_f]Lollie[/name_f] ([name_f]Lollie[/name_f] actually means “laurel” I believe).
[name_f]Jolie[/name_f], love the “pretty” meaning.
I think you could also do something with the middle name, like [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], or [name_f]Mable[/name_f] [name_f]Leona[/name_f], or [name_u]Madison[/name_u] [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], to get those “M” and “-ly” sounds.
