How to honor Sheila

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone.

This quarantine has got me thinking a lot about names! Sorry if I post too much.:stuck_out_tongue:

My wonderful grandmother and matriarch of my life was named [name_f]Sheila[/name_f]. We really like honor names (my DH and I love the choices of [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] to honor our fathers [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] and [name_m]Philip[/name_m]) and if there were anyone to name a future daughter after, it would be my grandmother. DH, however, is not convinced as a first name choice. Her full name was [name_f]Sheila[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u].

Are there any ways you can think of that could honor [name_f]Sheila[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]? Any way to pay homage to her and also to bring the name into this generation? Her legacy of course will pass down to our children without her name attached, but I do like the gesture.

Thank you

Maybe:

[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecile[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]/[name_f]Celia[/name_f] - [name_f]Sheila[/name_f] comes from [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cilla[/name_f]/[name_f]Zilla[/name_f] - lesser-known forms of [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Shayla[/name_f]/[name_f]Kayla[/name_f] - [name_f]Shayla[/name_f] comes from [name_f]Sheila[/name_f], influenced by [name_f]Kayla[/name_f]
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] - similar letters to [name_f]Sheila[/name_f] despite being unrelated and sounding different
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] - St. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is the patron saint of the blind, and [name_f]Sheila[/name_f] means “blind.” [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] means “light.” So it has a subtle connection.

[name_u]Jean[/name_u] is a form of [name_m]John[/name_m], so here are other forms:
[name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f], [name_u]Jan[/name_u], [name_f]Janet[/name_f], [name_f]Janice[/name_f], [name_f]Shawna[/name_f], [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f], [name_f]Sinead[/name_f], Síne, [name_u]Shan[/name_u], Johnette, [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], [name_u]Joan[/name_u], [name_f]Janelle[/name_f], [name_f]Jovanna[/name_f], [name_f]Giovanna[/name_f], [name_f]Gianna[/name_f], [name_f]Gia[/name_f], [name_f]Jolene[/name_f]

[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] would be my favorite combination for you!

As the previous poster suggested, it’s a variant of [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] -so [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] are good options.
