How to Honor Virginia

I’ve been interested in honoring two grandmothers named [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], but I don’t care much for the name. I also do not like some of the typical nn’s like [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_f]Gin[/name_f], [name_u]Virge[/name_u], or [name_f]Nia[/name_f]. What are other names that could honor [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] in a roundabout way?

Maybe it would be easier to know what their middle names are?

[name_f]Virginia[/name_f] honor name ideas:

[name_f]Gia[/name_f]
Viana
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Via[/name_f]
Vaia / Vaya pron. VY ya, rhymes with [name_u]Sky[/name_u]-a.
Vinnia

[name_f]Virginia[/name_f] and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] all mean pure.

I’m not a fan of naming a girl after the ‘virtue’ of virginity, but I really like the name, and I always associate it with [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] I, which is the origin of the name coming into common usage (first through the colony and then the name).

[name_f]Virginie[/name_f] ([name_m]Veer[/name_m]-zhen-ee)
[name_f]Virgilia[/name_f]
Virgo
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]

Names with similar sounds and letters
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Geneva[/name_f]

Or have a boy and call him [name_m]Virgil[/name_m]. :stuck_out_tongue:

PS - the Virginias I know use “V” as their nicknames.

I love [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] just as it is. A stunning name.

[name_f]Ginger[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], or [name_f]Genie[/name_f]/[name_f]Genia[/name_f].

Jincy is apparently a very old nickname for [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. Although, I personally love [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. [name_f]Ginia[/name_f] is another possibility, it reminds me of [name_f]Livia[/name_f] from [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Gina[/name_f] (Jee-na) could be used. Also, I know you said you don’t prefer [name_f]Ginny[/name_f]. Not sure if spelling would make a difference or not, but I know a [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] that goes by [name_f]Jenny[/name_f]. What about the middle name Vee? It could stand for [name_f]Virginia[/name_f].
