I like certain boards over others, and would prefer to not see certain boards on the update list each time I am looking for a thread. For example, I like looking at Boy/Girl Names, Baby Names, Birth Announcements & Sibling Names, but I don’t want to see Baby Name Games each time I open my screen. Is there a way to mute notifications for entire boards so I don’t necessarily have to see them, but I can still go look here and there?

There is!
If you go into the category in question and click the little bell symbol top right, you can select “Mute” in the dropdown list below. You won’t receive notifications for topics in this category, and you won’t see it in your feeds, but you can still come and check it out if you want.
