So I’ve decided I want to name my daughter after my paternal Grandmother, [name_f]Judith[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_u]Jensen[/name_u] (This is her maiden name, she’s been married three times with last names in this order- [name_m]Smith[/name_m], [name_m]Sisco[/name_m], [name_m]Harvey[/name_m])
I was named after her, I’m [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] (my married surname is [name_m]Packer[/name_m])
Anyway, I’ve discussed it with my husband and we both love the name [name_f]Anne[/name_f] as a middle but not as a first and I’m struggling to find a name that I could call my girl so she could have a first name with connections to [name_f]Judith[/name_f]. Most Hebrew names I’ve seen are fine, but I’m clamoring to find something that is classic/heard of, that is still not common with [name_f]Judith[/name_f] connections.
Our daughter will be (BLANK) [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_m]Packer[/name_m].
Those were the obvious ones (well, most of them anyway). Some more that could possibly work?:
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_f]Jewel[/name_f] (and all its spellings)
[name_u]Jules[/name_u] (and all its spellings)
Jodene
Jodena (I looked it up, it’s a name)
[name_f]Jolene[/name_f]
I don’t know if it could work, but then you could possibly even have something like:
[name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_f]Jordana[/name_f]
[name_u]Jean[/name_u]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Janie[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]/[name_u]Julie[/name_u]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
Judette
You could aslo go for [name_u]Julianne[/name_u] and miss [name_f]Anne[/name_f] in the middle.
I am not sure how can I add to this! I will have a think and edit if I can.
As a second opinion I think these could all work in honoring your Grandmother!
Have you thought of using the [name_f]Anne[/name_f] as part of the first name? Something like [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] would be a beautiful way to remember her.
My first thought was [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] because [name_f]Judith[/name_f] means “woman from Judea” and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] means “woman from [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]”. But there’s also [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] and [name_f]Magda[/name_f] which mean “woman from [name_f]Magdala[/name_f]”
[name_m]How[/name_m] lovely of you to name your daughter after her great grandmother! I don’t have much to add, but here are some options:
[name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] - “[name_f]Jen[/name_f]” as in [name_u]Jensen[/name_u] and starts with a J like [name_f]Judith[/name_f] - [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_m]Packer[/name_m]
[name_f]Judetta[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_m]Packer[/name_m]
[name_f]Jolie[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_m]Packer[/name_m]
[name_u]Julie[/name_u] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_m]Packer[/name_m]
[name_f]Judith[/name_f] also means ‘praised’. Names with the similar meanings:
I love the suggestion of [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]! I also really like [name_f]Judith[/name_f]. I know an amazing [name_f]Judith[/name_f] who goes by [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and it fits her spunky, charming, adventurous and caring personality perfectly! [name_f]Judith[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] is great and will fit in with all the beautiful vintage names making a comeback. Those would be my top choices:-)
