How to pronounce Dashiell...

I want to say Dah-SHYELL or Da-she-[name]ELL[/name].

But I’ve heard [name]DASH[/name]-uhl or [name]Dash[/name]-EEL.

What do you say Nameberries?

[name]How[/name] many syllables and where do you place the emphasis?

p.s. I love the nickname [name]Dash[/name]. What else could it be short for? Could it stand alone?

I say [name]DASH[/name]-uhl (am in UK). The only other name I can think of/find which could work with [name]Dash[/name] is a japanese name Tadashi. You may get away with these though: [name]Dallas[/name], [name]Darius[/name], [name]Davis[/name], [name]Dawson[/name], Adesh and Aldrish.

[name]Rachel[/name]

this is my friend’s son’s name and they pronounce it dash-ull.
dash is so cute as a nickname.
love it!!!

I say [name]Dash[/name]- she -el.

I’m American.

Other names I think of could is Dashin which really isn’t a name but it works.

[name]Dash[/name]-ull.

I have a nephew named [name]Dashiell[/name], and they pronounce it [name]Dash[/name]-ull. People who aren’t familiar with the name usually pronounce it the way you do, but I believe [name]Dash[/name]-ull is the ‘correct’ way.

That’s too bad. I like the “incorrect” way better.

I pronounce it [name]Dash[/name]-ull. Same ending sound as in [name]Michael[/name]- [name]Mike[/name]-ull.
