This may seem like a dumb question but yeah, how do you pronounce [name]Emmeline[/name]? I’ve always thought the -line was pronounced like the leen in [name]Kathleen[/name], but now I realize that the -line might be pronounced like [name]Madeline[/name].
I have always said it the way you did - [name]Emma[/name]-leen. But I’m guessing it could go a few different ways depending on the person and their personal taste! [name]Emma[/name]-lyn, [name]Emma[/name]-line, etc. also possible.
I pronounce it [name]Emma[/name]-line (:
I say it [name]Emma[/name]-line
I say emma-leen. I’ve heard emma-line and emma-lyn, though, too.
I pronounce it with the -leen ending. There are several ways to pronounce it, but I like -leen the best
I pronounce it [name]Emma[/name]-line but have also heard it pronounced [name]Emma[/name]-lyn. I’ve never heard [name]Emma[/name]-leen, but I like that too. [name]Emma[/name]-line is still my favorite.
I’ve heard all of these ways but my favorite is with the -leen ending. If we use it, that’s the pronunciation we’ll be going with.
I pronounce it [name]Emma[/name]-leen
I prefer the French pronunciation of emma-leen.
I pronounce it emma-leen.
[name]Emma[/name]-leen for me. I don’t like the -line pronunciation.
French [name]Emmeline[/name] = leen
Modern [name]Emmaline[/name] = line
I’m British and pronounce it [name]Emmeline[/name], like [name]Caroline[/name]!
It never occurred to me to pronounce it [name]Emma[/name]-line either. [name]Emma[/name]-leen sounds so much more natural.
Another [name]Emma[/name]-leen here.
I’d pronounce it [name]Emma[/name]-leen, though I suppose [name]Emma[/name]-line or [name]Emma[/name]-lyn would work.
I’ve always pronounced it [name]Emma[/name]-line, I know a little girl named [name]Adeline[/name], and everyone pronounces it [name]Ad[/name]-uh-line. So I kind of followed that same rule as where I live we say things phonetically. The -leen ending for me has always sounded off, I know its the original pronunciation; but I don’t know it kind of sounds rather harsh to me. But I think it’s because there used to be a tv series about a heavily religious, farming family, and one of the nasty older women was named Adaleen. And that’s why I am not found of the -leen ending
em-uh-leen… I have also heard it prn em-uh-[name]Line[/name], but I don’t like it as well
