How to pronounce Everett?

Hey everyone!

[name_m]How[/name_m] is [name_u]Everett[/name_u] supposed to be pronounced? I always thought it was pronounce Ev-ert (sounds like [name_u]Bert[/name_u]), because my cousin’s name is pronounced the Dutch way, Ay-vert, and spelt like [name_m]Evert[/name_m]. But I’ve heard others pronouncing it [name_u]Ever[/name_u]-ett, and Ev-rett. I might add it to my list, as I love the nickname [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], but I want a vintage name to go along with it.

Also, would a boy actually like having this name? I’d be worried that he would hate it.

Definitely not [name_m]Evert[/name_m]. I say either 3 syllables: eh-ver-ett, or slurred to 2 syllables: ehv-rett/ehv-ritt. Great name tho, love [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] too!

I know only one [name_u]Everett[/name_u], and we all pronounce his name Ev-rett.

It would depend on who says it! Mostly, I would expect “ev-er-ett”, but I’m in Australia, and a lot of our speech is lazy so would probably end up being “ev-rhett”.

“Ev-er-ett” by far.

Definitely as three syllables, ev-er-ett.

Exactly what I was going to say

It’s probably supposed to be prn ev-er-ett, but I say it like ev-rhett.

I agree with the above posters in that I pronounce it ehv-er-ett. I’ve never heard it pronounced ev-ert.

I pronounce [name_u]Everett[/name_u] with two syllables - ehv-rett.

I like this name, and I think it would suit a little boy very well. : )

I say [name_u]Ever[/name_u]-et.

Ev-er-ett just like Mount [name_u]Everest[/name_u] without the s.

I say ehv ritt.
