Hey berries! So recently I saw the name [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] (eh-len-ie) but I thought it was pronounced (uh-lane-ie) like delaney with out the d. I now know it’s not pronounced that way but I really like it pronounced that way. I was wondering how you think it would be spelled? A lot of people pronounce [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] like that so it might not be that big of a deal to be pronounced that way. I thought about [name_f]Elaney[/name_f] but I’m not huge on that spelling. What other ways would you spell it?
I’ve always said [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] like eh-LEN-ee, but eh-LANE-ee IS a much less common but also acceptable Greek pronunciation, so I would stick with the classic spelling personally? There’s also [name_f]Elene[/name_f] that’s a valid Greek transliteration so maybe that would give you the levity to just explain it’s eh-LANE-ee without people having any preconceptions? I know I wouldn’t know how to say [name_f]Elene[/name_f] if I didn’t already ADORE [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] so much myself. Lol.
I guess there is also [name_f]Elani[/name_f], but I think that’s eh-LAH-nee.

I’m trying to think of ways to spell [name_f]Alaina[/name_f]/Elaina with an -ee sound instead of an -a sound.
Thank you for your suggestions! I really like the Elainie spelling. I’m looking for a way that it won’t get mispronounced a lot
I really like the Elainie spelling! I think it would definitely be the easiest way to get the pronunciation you want. [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] could work ([name_f]Elena[/name_f] is sometimes pronounced [name_f]El[/name_f]-[name_m]Lay[/name_m]-[name_m]Nuh[/name_m]), but I think you’d have to correct a lot of people.
Elaini, Elaeni, Elainie, or Elaenie.
Elainie would be cute!
