I have had the name [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f] on my list for years. I love the sound of it. I’m [name_m]French[/name_m]-Canadian, and it’s pronounced So-Fyan (not too sure how to write the pronunciation, sorry!) rather than So-[name_u]Fee[/name_u]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f]. In [name_m]French[/name_m], it’s perfectly acceptable to have double-barrel names, so I always just preferred spelling it [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f], but there are many options :
… and maybe more that I haven’t thought of. Which one looks better, in your opinion? I know that the spelling Sofiane has been used for boys in the past, but would it be okay for a girl?

[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f] was used for 3 girls, 0 boys

So Sophianne was the most used spelling. I feel like it’s so many letters smushed together, though! Is that just me?
Since Sophianne is the most common I’d probably use that, although Sophiane does look less smushy to me.
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f] looks beautifully classic, but the dash is probably going to cause a few issues, and I think non-[name_m]French[/name_m] speakers are more likely to say so-[name_u]FEE[/name_u]-anne with this spelling.
Oliviasarah ; I agree about the smushy-ness! I actually don’t mind that it’s pronounced So-[name_u]FEE[/name_u]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f] in English, I mean it still sounds nice right? Thank you so much for your opinion!

The spelling with the hyphen looks the most beautiful and classic to me. The others look like invented names.
It’s hard to describe (for me anyways). The typical English way would be so-[name_u]FEE[/name_u]-ann, I suppose. But in [name_m]French[/name_m], the [name_u]FEE[/name_u] sound is almost not heard. Like Sofe-[name_m]Yan[/name_m]? Is that better? Hahah sorry, I’m pretty bad at this. I’ve always preferred the hyphen aswell, but I was surprised to see that it wasn’t the most popular spelling.
So-fyan or sofe-yan? I see the first as being two syllables the second having three. I’d go with whatever is a common spelling probably not [name_f]Sofie[/name_f]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f] though unless you don’t mind correcting the English speakers for saying so-fee-anne.
I understand that [name_m]French[/name_m] speakers would smush [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f] together when they say it. However, I don’t think you should smoosh it together when you spell it.
