How would use spell this?

My new favorite name is pronounced ee-[name_f]DEE[/name_f]-lee. With this pronounciation, how would you spell it? So far i only have Idyli which is the most common spelling, but i dont know how easy is to pronounce this.

[name_f]TIA[/name_f]

Idilie or Edilie, leaning towards the former.

[name_f]Edelie[/name_f], probably. Or Edilie.

Like [name_f]Edie[/name_f] with a [name_u]LEE[/name_u] ending; maybe Edielie, Ediely, Edielee. I would personally go with [name_f]Edie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] or [name_f]Edie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] ________ and call her [name_f]Edie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u].

I’d go with [name_f]Edie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u].

As one word maybe [name_f]Edelie[/name_f] but you’d probably get the pronunciation ‘ed-e-ley’ with that spelling. I wouldn’t use Idelie/Idyli because I read that as ‘idle-y’ like the word idly.

[name_f]Edelie[/name_f] which could also be pronounced ee-duh-lee. Edeelee, Edielie, Edeelie, Edielee? I like the suggestion of [name_f]Edie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u].

[name_f]Edelie[/name_f] is my first instinct…

other variations:

Edaleigh (i dislike the -leigh endings, but I think it works for this name)
Edylie
Edily
Edylee
Edili
Edielee

The problem I think will be the emphasis, any known spelling/name and the emphasis automatically shifts toward what people know.
[name_f]Edie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] would never bee ee-[name_f]DEE[/name_f]-lee, only ever EE-dee-lee.
I do think that the prounciation would have to always be corrected, wether it Eedilie (which looks weird to me), Edilie, Edielie or Idilie, Idielie or Idily.

Maybe:

  • Edyllie
  • Iddilie
  • Iddilly
  • Iddily
  • Idilly
  • Idilie
  • Edilie

My favorite are by far Idilly or Iddilly (maybe Iddily).

[name_f]Edelie[/name_f] is how I would spell it.

[name_f]Edelie[/name_f] works but I’d be inclined to say that as ‘‘ed-ell-ee’’. Idelie?

[name_f]Edie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] would be my choice for that reason too. Idyli isn’t very intuitive in English and looks like the words idly or idyl.

Idyli does make sense, although I say it more like “ideally”. I like the suggestion of Idilie. It looks very pretty, actually–it reminds me of [name_f]Odilia[/name_f], [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], and [name_f]Lily[/name_f], all of which are so pretty and current!
